It's a dangerous game full stop.

They should outlaw heading the ball and keepers punching while they're at it.

And some of the halftime pies.

Think the laws of the game need looking at in relation to keepers getting involved in open play outside their box. Mane had every right to go for that ball and his foot was high because the ball was high, he's a fantastic athlete after all. Keeper was brave but stupid to stoop to head the ball. It's a farce and wasn't a red card, should've been a red for the keeper

Fkn rubbish! That was excellent keeping. Saw the danger, reacted quickly and put his body (face) on the line. Take off the rose tinted specs. Red card for the keeper! WTF?

Even I am prepared to concede it wasn't a red card for the keeper

For what? Getting blood on Manes boots? It was great keeping.

Yep, great keeping. Fine margins as I've said though. If Mane nicks the ball first it was a definite red for the keeper.

OK. Ill go along with you here, as long as you talk about the good that goes for us that we never talk about here? Fair?

Otherwise its just ranting about something that only one side of the story is allowed to be talked about.

Suarez may have eeked out a few opposition reds and yellows back in the day, if we are going to have to have all those even themselves out we could be in for a tough couple of months.

Not really, he was lucky Mane cleaned him out. If Mane hadn't led with his feet but tried to use his head instead, keeps would've cleaned Mane out and then he's the one getting the ref's attention.

In that scenario the keeper has taken exactly the same action (just ran at Mane really quickly) and possibly gets a red, so lucky he got a boot in the face and 3 points for his team.

Lucky? Whats lucky about getting a kick to the head? Making a hell of a lot of assumptions there I think.

Seems fair. We got ****ed over by a linesman at Watford too. Hopefully one day some of these honest mistakes can actually go for us.
Was the challenge dangerous or just a foul?

A high footed foul is a yellow.

A high footed dangerous foul is a red.

Clearly Mane's was dangerous, he had his foot high, knee straight, was travelling at pace and didn't do enough to avoid flykicking someone in the head.

We can all have opinions about the rules but whether something should be a red card in practice is about the rules not our opinion of them:

                            Q1) Was it a foul?
Q2) Was the foul committed whilst being in danger of injuring the opponent?

If you answer the 2 questions above as Yes then it has to be red.

                            If you didn't then your a ****.

                            Yellow card (caution)[edit]

A player is cautioned and shown a yellow card if he/she commits any of the following offences:
                            1.Unsporting behaviour
                            2.Dissent by word or action
3.Persistent infringement of the Laws of the Game
                            4.Delaying the restart of play
5.Failure to respect the required distance when play is restarted with a corner kick, throw-in or free kick
6.Entering or re-entering the field of play without the referee's permission
7.Deliberately leaving the field of play without the referee's permission

What constitutes cautionable unsporting behaviour is generally at the referee's discretion, though the Interpretation and Guidelines which accompany the Laws list a number of examples.[1]:123 These include simulation intended to deceive the referee, or attempting to score by handling the ball. Fouls which are committed recklessly or fouls which are committed with the intention of breaking up a promising attack are also considered unsporting behaviour and punishable with a yellow card. Fouls which are committed with excessive force, however, or which deny an obvious goalscoring opportunity for the player fouled (i.e. a professional foul), are punishable by a red card.

The Laws state that goals may be celebrated, but that such celebrations should not be "excessive". Removing one's shirt or climbing onto a perimeter fence are listed in the rules as caution-worthy excesses.[1]

Law 12 of the Laws of the Game lists the categories of misconduct for which a player may be sent off. These are:
                            1.Serious foul play
                            2.Violent conduct
3.Spitting at an opponent or any other person
4.Denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
5.Denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player's goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick
6.Using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
7.Receiving a second caution in the same match[1]:39

Serious foul play is a foul committed using excessive force (i.e., "the player...is in danger of injuring his opponent").[1]:117 Violent conduct is distinct from serious foul play in that it may be committed by any player, substitute, or substituted player against any person, e.g., teammates, match officials, or spectators.[1]:127

Well it evidently doesn't *have* to be a red does it because Reid could have had the Huddersfield lads eye out if we are going down the "dangerous" route and didn't even get a yellow. Ritchie did this, ended up connecting and got a yellow. Mane fresh in everyones mind and still no red.

Quoting rules is kinda pointless if no one is going to bother with them so I will continue to be ****ed off we got screwed over for the same offence everyone else is getting away with.

I didn't see the other two, was it the same force behind the challenge, that would have made it dangerous rather than just a foul?

Justifiable ****ed off that others got away with it, but Mane's challenge is a Red card offence according to the rules
