They'll probably throw an extra game in just for ****s and giggles.

Still stand by it wasn't a red card but the injury to the keeper will sway opinion on this

I think the problem here is that people are applying their own opinions of what they think constitutes a red card rather then what the actual laws of the game dictate.

For me it was 100% red, foot too high, dangerous for the other player (he has the stitches to show) it wasn't intentional so ban should be 1 game.
Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

Whether it was a red or otherwise what struck me is what fine margins there are in football.

If Mane gets the ball ahead of Ederson it's a straight red for the keeper and we may well have gone on to win the match (we were the better side at that point).

Instead it's a red and we lose 5-0

When will we hear results of the appeal?

I defy anyone to show me one rule in football that is consistantly enforced that isnt a black and white case (Throw in, corner ect)

Rules are never consistently enforced when the language to go with them is ambiguous.

that is the problem......the referees should have a big **** off meeting every season, with all scenarios spelt out on what is a yellow and what is a red....

I think that by the letter of the law, Mane's challenge was a red card. But by the letter of the law, then there should be at least one red card in every game.

Every challenge where a player leaves the ground - and therefore loses control - is technically endangering an opponent. So should have a red card attached to it.

And with there being so much at stake now in the PL, then every game should be reviewed every Monday and new yellow and red cards issued. Because losing Mane for 3 games could effectively cost us a number of points - the difference between competing in next years CL or not and effectively tens of millions of pounds worth of revenue for the club. Whereas Pogba, Ritchie et al don't have the right laws applied to them

I agree with you & Alex, the problem lies with how rules are implemented.

in reality there should have been 3 reds at the weekend for pretty much the same challenge, albeit it in different areas of the pitch (not that that should matter, but it often does.....) 1 got a red, 1 a yellow, 1 a smile & laugh from the ref & nothing else.

                    Its crazy.

So we get the game ruined at City and another 3 match ban on top, Winston Reid didn't even get a yellow card and Matt Ritchie got a yellow (and later went on to assist the winner). Seems fair. We got ****ed over by a linesman at Watford too. Hopefully one day some of these honest mistakes can actually go for us.

It's OK these decisions even themselves out over the course of the season........apparently.

Not surprised one bit. Said the day of the game that these decisions rarely get overturned or that refs get undermined in any way.

Aye, bollocks cliché. Statistically speaking it is highly unlikely for these things to end up even. Still think red was reasonable but the inconsistency is a ****ing disgrace.
