Zakaria can cover for Fabinho, can play at CB, is fat, tall, strong and good on the ball.

Tonali can cover a few roles and along with Jones he would cover Henderson, Thiago, and Keita.

Both guys are six foot or over so both add height to the midfield options as well.

I know there's an ageing squad discussion but we can sack off Milner, Ox etc and their 100k+ a week wages and funnel them elsewhere.

He's waiting to see what happens at the other interested clubs first...no point signing for Barca if the next manager doesn't see a role for you, and who knows if other interested clubs will qualify for the CL, or will we see crowds back at Anfield allowing us a little more wriggle room at the negotiating table etc...nothing will be decided until the summer.

He said he'd be 'devastated' to leave.

‘There is no news at it stands right now.’

‘I would like to say I am really happy at the club, with the team, the fans and that is only thing I can say. It’s not that I am not happy and have to leave. It’s not that easy. So difficult to deal with it…’

‘The situation we are in right now [my future] is not the most important thing. But only thing I can say is I am really happy here with the fans, team, staff, family is happy here. But there is no news.’

‘You would leave a team you really love. With a team you feel really comfortable. This will be difficult – but you will know the situation why you have to leave. But I would be devastated if I cannot play with this team anymore.’

Insane how this is still going on. Allegedly said he’s waiting on us but is this true? Surely he’s off if he hasn’t signed by now?

I still think his slow starts to games is a bit of a hinderance when playing lesser teams at Anfield. We should be putting them to bed in the first half and seeing games out.
he can keep the ball well but wheeels around a lot in possession.. if you now what I mean. Out of our midfield options, for me he's the one who slows play down the most... Fab. Naby, Hendo, Thiago... all look to play quickly and a couple of them are always looking for the forward pass as a first option.

Gini's hardly ever injured though and does a role when he has others around him... he'll be a tough one to replace...
