Thanjk you.

The comparison is in someone coming on and delivering in a big moment.
None of our subs did that.
Well no, before it was a direct comparison between Keita and Gundogan and what they each did in a specific game.
After Keita and Firmino came on we improved, we become more progressive and got behind them more. Unfortunately they only came on in the 77th minute. Perhaps they should have come on earlier.
No great chances fell to either of them and can’t really expect them to come on late and just pull a rabbit out of the hat.
The big chances came for players who started the game, Mane and Salah and there was nothing wrong with their execution of them. Unfortunately they just found a keeper in inspired form.
Anyone who doesn’t want to discuss this shot or sees it as an attack on Keita please ignore.
This angle shows it best, particularly how much time he has. Take a touch and instantly set it to the right (he has the space) then try to whip it top right imo. Not easy but that is quite a lot of time and space to find yourself in 18 yards from goal in a CL Final.
Nobody is scapegoating or claiming he’s the worst of our problems.
But that shot.
Can you imagine what Rodri or Mount would have done with it. We must have midfielders who can score from such chances, or at the very least severely test the keeper rather than just those trying to keep a straight-face. And Trent needs to rediscover his shooting boots too.
I can only assume that this genuinely bizarre rush to defend him is because the loss is still fresh and people are still a bit spikey. In fairness though, it was a pretty hilarious miss for any pro footballer & a **** load of people actually burst out laughing in the pub I was in, so eh chill out lads it's not like he's going to be here much longer anyways
Also, there is no ****ing way he is 27. Give him at least 41 or 42 ish
Miss? He was outside the box FFS with the entire Madrid defence in the way of the goals + a keeper who has the longest limbs on planet earth. He tried to hit it with some swerve and ****ed it up, it happens. If he hit it dead straight it would've been saved/blocked. Guaranteed.
Robbo skies shots every single game into row Z and nobody bats an eyelid, ditto our captain and the worlds best rightback.
We, as a team, are absolutely awful at shooting from distance. Ive been saying it for years.

He could've done a lot of things with it. Look at all the Madrid players on the line and a massive goalkeeper. Taking a touch would've just let them rush him and allow Cuntois to set himself and in all likelihood just catch the ball. I don't blame him for hitting it first time at all.

I actually don't have a problem with the shot at all. If it had gone it we'd have been calling him a genius. He scored a goal against Atletico with that exact same technique, he clearly has it in his locker and backed himself. If players are hounded for playing their game and not getting it right all the time, I'm not sure there's any point of them showing up.
It's an archaic mentality that the way things look should be assessed. It's either a goal or it's not. If he lashed it with his laces and it hit the crossbar, the result would have been no different. Henderson hit some awful shots in the game, that volley which he hit wide wouldn't have hit two goals if they were sat side by side. I haven't seen anyone singling that out, where that missed by a lot more, regardless of the perceived "comical" value.
I thought him and Bobby improved the play a lot when they came on and found a little space between the lines in midfield. Something which we didn't do before then. Not a great performance but hardly the end of the world. Again, as I've said in the match thread if we played the exact same game and won no one would be crying or pointing fingers, it's just the way sports go sometimes, if things don't work out on the day you lose. The mass panic and supposed learning about the character of players etc. is laughable, it's the same players who have won almost every game this season, unfortunately this one wasn't to be, it happens. I get the disappointment, I am too but so confused how the same players have suddenly become poor overnight in the eyes of many.
Guess this is the new 'Aspas corner'.

Would love to know how many of our goals come from outside the 18 yard box and then the same stat for the other teams in the league.
And also our conversion rate from open play shots taken from outside the 18 yard box vs that of other teams in the league.
Nothing more behind this comment other than the dynamic duo of the old fashioned eye test and gut feeling, but I have a feeling that the likes of City and Chelsea will not fare much better than us.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

It’s technically terrible. Naby has shown he is much better than that, I’ll bet you any money he was pondering what he should have done with the chance as he went to sleep. If he takes a touch then he gives himself options. He’s got to take the touch, the shot he tries is a 1 in a 100 chance.
If Mane had done the same you’d be all over him btw

Definitely feels like it has dropped off this season. I can think of Thiagos wonderball strike. Maybe Hendo v AC (think this was inside) Trent’s thunderbolt. That’s about it.
Was what Ox was good at in his prime though he is persona non grata now.
Mount and Kovacic have definitely scored a few from distance, and Reece James, Alonso, Rudiger
City, well KDB, Gundogan, Rodri, Mahrez, Cancelo are always a massive threat.
Its not even always about scoring the goal either, its the threat that pulls defences out. You can see teams don't rate our players striking from range with how much possession they give us outside the box.

Just laughing at the thought of some of you lot being all, “ah, it’s cool man, at least he had a shot, unlucky” when we are one nil down in the 80th minute of the CL Final. I’d be fuming whoever it was. And I have myself pegged as the very barometer of a reasonable and calm supporter.

No its not, come off it.
Bet you he puts it on target more often than not. He scored the same bloody goal a month or so ago didnt he??
Only if he turned around with that stupid grin he does when he ****s something up.
