I thought he started quite well for us actually. It's only been more recently he's looked like he's struggling. I'm putting it down to him changing his game up, and needing to work through that. Klopp seems to put more emphasis on players being able to implement his ideas as opposed to getting them to hit the ground running then worry about adjusting instructions later, and it's inevitable that approach takes more time. I think there's a good chance Keita, Shaq and Fabinho will be just the tonic in the new year, offering us a new impetus. Nothing I've seen so far has made me concerned Keita is a poor signing. Nothing.

yeah I agree with you mate, the quality is there and thought he was decent for the first few games. Milner and Gini's form has been superb this season so it really is a case of Fab, Naby and Hendo fighting for one spot and I'm sure Klopp is looking at each game to see which one will add that little of extra to the midfield and selecting appropriately.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostI thought he started quite well for us actually. yeah I agree early on he looked sharper and you can see he has something about him - he moved the ball quickly, he turned sharply, he ran with the ball, he made a few direct passes.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostI thought he started quite well for us actually. he then did the worlds greatest ever turn, virtually spraining some lads ankles away to crystal palace and even thought **** me who is this guy...…
and then he seems to have lost his way from there.
I just think it's a bit of a bedding in period, the games have been a bit quicker/more intense than he's used to and hes trying to settle and find his feet.
it's clear he's got ability but he does need to start having an impact soon as our midfield is desperate for it.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I'm pretty sure Naby was brought in to provide some thrust to the midfieldOriginally posted by foresterbloke View PostMust be hard coaching positioning and movement in Ox's absence but knowing he'll be back in the team next season.
Will he have to unlearn everything he's been taught this season based on no driving midfielder beside him?

As I have said in another thread he occupies the same areas that Firmino drops off intoOriginally posted by labourRed View PostWe also have Shaqiri who can also play that role, if needed. He is certainly good enough to do a role against lesser teams.
Oxlade-Chamberlain made runs through those areas and beyond the frontline, I thought Keita would end up doing this also and whilst he has occasionally hes not seemed to do it the last few gamesBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. One of the issues at the moment is just his lack of passing accuracy. Whether that’s just a settling in thing I don’t know but the amount of misplaced passes is a worry.
Firmino used to be guilty of similar - he’d play a risky pass too deep and we’d turnover possession.
Naby needs to just play it simple unless he’s 30 yards from the opposition goal and then he can try stuff.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

Yeah, in fairness it's a common problem with a 10 and an attacking midfielder to occupy the same spaces. No one is at fault, it is what it is and you wouldn't want to clip Firmino's wings.Originally posted by Lecter View PostAs I have said in another thread he occupies the same areas that Firmino drops off into

I think both Keita and Shaqiri will benefit from some coaching to be more effective midfielders (in our system). You just have to look at Fabinho or even to go full circle Ox, to see how long that might take. I'd be more concerned if those players didn't have quality but I think they have. Shaqiri is more of a forward in my eyes though so he's a lot of work to do to be a viable option for us.

Yeah, our speed of thought and movement was unbelievable last season, at the minute everyones timing and movement seems a touch off, with passes going astray and runs not being noticed or timed.
Once this all kicks in you feel we are going to stuff someone 10-0.Modifying post.

I am struggling to understand his role in the team at the moment, is he a DM, CM or AM? I think he will be great in the long term because he is being coached by the very best out there so no concerns from me aside from the above."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball."
