On whether there is a reason Keita has remained on the bench for Liverpool’s last three games…
No, that’s how it sometimes is. With Naby, and I spoke to him, everything is fine and I am completely happy. Could he be a bit more confident in the games? Yes. Is he exactly the player [he was] in his best time at Leipzig? No, but he’s still adapting, that’s how it is. But everybody saw it how brilliant he played in the first part [of the season]. Tottenham was a fantastic game of him without thinking too much, and then we made a change I think around the PSG game and the boys have to deal with it. Then a little injury here, a little injury there and it was kind of a little setback.
But he is a fantastic player and I’m really happy to have him here. It’s so good and I am really looking forward to our common future because see if you see it every day, wow, there is so much to come and so much influence he can have on each game, so that’s all good. No, there was no reason [for him not playing recently], just because other boys were in good shape as well. It was a bit about positioning, a bit about system and all that stuff. That’s how football decisions are. There is really, really no doubt about the boy, he is an outstanding player.
On whether Monday’s game is a good opportunity for the No.8 to return to the starting line-up…
I can tell you it is a good opportunity for all the players. We can talk about all the players then Wolves know my complete line-up! I said already two [Simon Mignolet and Alberto Moreno], so you can make of it what you want. It’s pretty clear if we make changes who will come in.

I don't bet more than a couple of times a season. Is it possible to get odds on which direction the assist for an opposition goal will come from?

He wasn't good but it's never easy to stand out in a mish mash team that's never played together. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Looked short on confidence to me. Had plenty of the ball but made the wrong decision / held on to it too long / ****ed it up on many occasions.
If it's confidence, then that can fixed in the medium term. But we kinda need him firing now with Milner out of sorts and Fabinho or Gini in defence.Oh I don't know.

True, but standing out as bad in such a side is a bit different imo.Originally posted by Shaggy View Post

I can't recall what game it was, but it was one of the first league games he featured in. I'm sure it was on MOTD too but he was mentioned as being great business based on his performance that game. Since then it's been stop start for him due to injuries. We need to give him time, he'll come good.Glass half empty club

Once we clear out some of the dead wood this month and the end of the season then hes really going to have to up his game, or by default, he will mve into the scapegoat position...
Potential 50m+ flop ???removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Not all players hit the ground running. As mentioned before, Son, Kane, Gomez ex are examples of players that needed time but eventually broke through.
He's proven himself a good player, just give him time. Was muß, das muß.

Yep, I think that's true. It seems mental with Keita, he's playing within himself. The potential he has shines through a few times a game but the rest of the game passes him by. I don't want to say he's hiding, but maybe he's not confident enough yet to constantly show for the ball in the way someone like Wijnaldum does.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostNot all players hit the ground running. The awkward thing is he probably needs a run of games, but we can't afford to give him that with a title to win.

I don't think any Liverpool fans is writing Keita off but it's not wrong to suggest his signing has been more than a little disappointing so far. Forget confidence for a minute which obviously is an issue, injuries or language which obviously are important. For me, he is sooooo slow, actually seems quicker with the ball than without it but I can't get over how slow he is. Clearly he is hanging onto the ball way to long, he either hasn't adapted or just can't play in a high tempo league.... I'm going with the former for the time being as I do think he's a lovely footballer. The weight of his passes seem off and waiting to long to release, imo though that's just confidence and least of his problems.
But the biggest and most glaring thing for me and the most surprising is that he's bottling tackles & hiding in games and seems one of the most timid guys i've seen signed for the club. This is polar opposite to what we've been led to believe. I was crying out for him to start central as that is his position, he got a great chance last night to show his stuff & Wolves didn't play well either. He was pretty awful.
People talking about adapting and some players not hitting the ground running, absolutely fair enough but for the money we spent and the challenge we are in now... he needs to step up. Injuries have hit us hard and we need Naby to show us why we bought him.Last edited by danperkins; 08-01-19, 11:53 AM.
