How much did Naby cost and how much were his wages? I was excited but realised we have a dud on our hands, took some people a long time to see it and other still can't. He's bang average and imo he is the worst value for money signing we've ever made. Adios turd, what a crock of ****.

A very effective component, as the performances and results prove when he played.

The injuries were of course a massive frustration.

Many dislike him for not being the player they imagined after they gorged themselves on Tik Toks and highlights vids for a year before he arrived.

Don't agree. He was ok at times but never had a really prolonged run. I can't remember a game where i came away thinking "thank **** naby played because otherwise we wouldn't have got 3 points there"

And the fact that lfc pre-paid a year previously was cause for excitement.

He has been **** overall. Approx 80m investment that effectively gave us a squad player that was injured for most of the time who ****ed off on a free.

He wouldn't get into the team of any of our rivals so isn't good enough

There were a few games where I thought he was adequate, it's very, very generous to describe him as an effective component.

I imagine most of us thought we'd be getting a £50m plus player when we signed him, which was a fair chunk of change back then. Never seen him anywhere near that level.

It isn't though. Not even slightly.

You're welcome to your opinion though.

He let the club down by continually being available for his national side & then being injured. THe one time he was a constant in the team (4-6 months) we were a much better side.

He made his choice & it wasn't that of his salary payers; hopefully we have learned the lesson.

He was a competent and useful midfielder for approximately six months. He’s been here five years. Awful purchase.

                        no he wasn't.

I swear you only think players that can smash in goals from 30yards or score a goal a game are "good"

Naby is a good player when fit. Just unfortunately thats a rare occasion.

I agree that, when fit, he sometimes offered us something that was different and much needed - including a progressive midfield.

But he sometimes also had howlers snd the potential to hae a howler made him difficult to trust - although JK trusted him more than I would.

                            All players have howlers.

He also had moments of brilliance. His ability to retain the ball in tight spaces was excellent.

The fact Klopp continued to play him every time he became available after injury, despite how "bang average" he apparently was, tells you all you need to know really.

I think expectations (not really his fault) were a lot higher than they should have been, based on the chase, the wait and the fee.

Good player but ultimately a complete letdown. Wouldn’t say a flop, but he should have done so much better. If we had split the same money on both a British youngster and a lower key, but stats favourable foreigner then I think we’d probably be in a better state than we are now.

Obviously the trophies along the way make the ‘what if’ a bit of a moot point - of course everyone would prefer to have had Naby here over the last few years and win the PL, vs not winning it. The main issue is we thought we were getting a world class player who we’d be able to sell on eventually for maybe double what we paid, and that not happening is a direct result of his time here.
