Although the phrase wasn't so common when we signed him I think alot of people thought he was going to be a generational talent. Mad how that turned out.

I still have no idea where this "exceptionally talented" comes from. I've never, ever seen it. I've seen a couple of times when he was good for us, a few when he was ok, and quite a few when he was poor albeit when the team was struggling generally. I've never understood the narrative that he was exceptional or world class, but lots of people have said it.
