        United did that for years

          That's true.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Can you imagine how disappointed his family must be with him?

What a div. Would've been playing in his 2nd CL final in 3 weeks. Would've had fans singing his name as a legend and not looking at him like he's scum. He's not going to be remembered after he retires, whereas he could've been a superstar here. What a div

In fairness wasn't the move supposedly because his family weren't settled here (that might be BS but it was mentioned at the time). Also without selling him we might not have had the money to bring in the players who got us to the CL finals.

Also I wonder in hindsight if part of the reason we let him go (and he didn't always start when he was here) was because he wasn't such a team player. This side is about attitude and team work and there is no place for egos for me he doesn't fit into that so well.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Oh yeah, I agree with that. He wanted the move though and had he thought we were able to challenge for the biggest trophy in the world I'm sure he would've wanted to stay. 2 CL finals in the 18 months since he left

Whilst I think Phil was a great player for us I also think we're a better more solid side since he's left 2 * CL finals and currently on 94 points in the league with a game to go I think backs up we've stepped up a level.

Possible we might well have done so with him still here but I we'd not have been as robust with him in the side and I think we'd conceded more chances over the course of the season, the "unfashionable midfielders we've played this season has fitted perfectly to how we want to play.

So what you're saying is we should be praising him for leaving the club and enabling us to become one of the best teams in the world.

                    Thanks for leaving Phil!

Some Catalan newspaper, I think it is Sport gave him 0/10 in the player rating section

21 goals in 74 appearances really isn't a bad return either
