Buy for £8m, sell for £140m, buy for £70m, sell for £140mOriginally posted by Fuzzy View PostHe's absolute quality, the fact he hasn't been great playing completely out of position at a very weird-vibe Barca team means nothing to me. Would still be the best midfielder at the club.
The fact that he's a sleazy liar rat is more of a problem though. Don't know if we could trust him not to pull the same **** and try to force a move to City or whatever two years after his return.
But we've been after quite a few players who've done the same to other clubs, so...
He's a cash cow

Exactly, Virgil did more or less the same to Southampton.Originally posted by Fuzzy View PostHe's absolute quality, the fact he hasn't been great playing completely out of position at a very weird-vibe Barca team means nothing to me. Would still be the best midfielder at the club.

Who cares.

I'm not normally big on 'going back' but I think I'd prefer him than gambling on someone like Bruno Fernandes or whoever. Could be a seamless move, and it's easy to forget how good he was for us.
I think for £70m and coming in as primarily an attacking midfielder and as an back up to Mane on the left from time to time it's a good option. I don't really like him as one of the forwards but playing an attacking midfield role playing through balls to Mane and Salah would be great, not to mention the ability to add goals from outside the box.
Unfortunately I think that he would go for over £70m probably to PSG or Chelsea/Man UtdThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We're obviously better because of Van Dijk, Alisson and Fabinho, not because of him not being here. Even Robertson only started getting games in December before Coutinho left. Our midfield still cries for a creative player with lots of end product, and that's exactly what Coutinho was for us. He was honestly worth £140m here.Originally posted by Assassin View PostLike the eternal 'I want to move' bad back?
**** him. We are infinately better without him
As for the bad back thing, I hate him for it and it's why I don't want us to sign him. But the truth is we have signed or tried to sign a few players with bad backs over the years and nobody cared. One and only single difference between them and Coutinho is that they haven't done it to us, but they're the same people.

Coutinho always needed too much time on the ball
Coutinho always slowed down our counter attacks
Coutinho did not have the engine or the work ethic to function as a pressing player
These are the main reasons we are better without him
