I initially said in the post that Ringo sends hugs but took it out when I realized we hadn't signed him.
But since we now play heavy metal football I'm thinking Ringo might be a bit too pedestrian for our purposes. Mike Portnoy might be between projects, very versatile & talented drummer who can really put the foot down. Double kick drum.

Dave & Charlie are good shouts, they certainly don't lack pace but I believe Mike has better chops. He has the same pace but also the ability to change gears when needed. He would also bring the creative element we need, plus he takes a wicked free kick.

If you want to hear technical drumming , listen to any drum clinics that were done by Benante or Lombardo. Portnoy is an excellent drummer, but Benante is simply amazing when he is free styling. Real deep jazz playing from him and great improvs.


Within Anthrax, Benante is excellent, but when doing drum clinics he is amazing.


Lombardo is Lombardo, and I think he would be only a hair below Benante for me.
