I didn't mean on one player, possibly 2 or 3. Our first 11 is great but the drop off is significant, albeit looking ok on paper

Rubbish! You're putting pressure on players to not be complacent.Originally posted by Fredo View PostWe need backups but the first team is good as any. If you spend £70m on someone who is gonna sit on the bench, you are sending the wrong signal.
City bought Mahrez and have the likes of him and Sane on the bench ffs!

Hard to argue that
There are gaps in our squad too, I've not seen a single fan say that our squad is complete. Surely we could have afforded to spend £50-£70m to shore it up

We can always add strength to the squad. Even if it's only one signing. We've just won the European Cup and still need to improve.
City won the domestic treble and are still upgrading their team.
Stand still and you risk falling behind City again and letting a team like Spurs closer to us.
We showed last season that you can turn around over 20 points against a team in the way we got closer to City.
If you think Spurs landing N'Dombele, and potentially Dybala and Coutinho is not going to give them a chance to replicate that then that's fair enough.
But it's my opinion that we are giving them that chance.
It's utter bollocks from the club to spout about not having money. Our net spend is small against our rivals and we have bigger revenue than most of them.

I really think it's about our future targets.
I remember in the summer of the 17/18 season, when we made that statement about pulling out of pursuing Van Dijk, and then we didn't sign another CB. We went bat**** crazy. Now we've got a God in defence.
And Spurs have shown that you don't need to sign anyone to to replicate form (last season).
Next summer, we may have to deal with one, or both of Salah and Mane looking to leave. Then there'll be the form of Origi and Shaqiri to look at too.
We may have to go very big next summer, and to secure the targets Klopp wants, we're probably having to wait.

The margin for improvement in the current crop of players is why Klopp hasn't spent a lot this pre season. We did our business last year and the year before.

He's a great individual but never thought there was much effort for the teamOriginally posted by Assassin View PostWhy would we want to bring someone back who isnt suited to our style of play? He doesnt have the engine or the willingness to press. He isnt dynamic enough and slowed down our play to a standstill. He couldnt cut it at Barca in an easy league with a myriad of good players around him and all of the time and space in the world
Happy he was our cash cow, we really ripped Barca a new one

Everyone around us is strengthening and we just seem content with what we've got. I've faith in Klopp and Edward's but they are rolling the dice with the squad depth
Really.... I thought we were the champions of ****in Europe
