They were such a well run club - ridiculous academy that produced ready map players on tap and generated cash from selling the surplus. They would then add genuine world class talent in top.Originally posted by Charly View PostSalary limit? Is that new? Messi probably takes up 50% of it.
The academy still is producing but they are a **** show on and off the pitch. The financial situation is even worse when you consider they got €200m CASH for selling Neymar. Dembele, Griezemann, Phil have cost them circa €400m.......

They've only themselves to blame. More than any club they have consistently pushed the market to new heights of inflation and it was always going to come back and bite them.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostThey were such a well run club - ridiculous academy that produced ready map players on tap and generated cash from selling the surplus. At fees of 100mil plus, no player is worth it in my opinion. The risk is simply too high for any individual in a team sport that requires a strong squad of 15-22 players.
Even if the player has the required quality he was bought for, there's always the chance he picks up niggling injuries or career debilitating injuries I e dembele.
The top end of the transfer market is so distorted, more than ever from the average professional club that then these players are impossible to shift without huge losses.
And that's not even considering the risk that time and time again great players move clubs and utterly fail to reproduce that form for no simple reason.
If I was a sporting director, I'd take the strategy of buying decent talent at the middle end of the market mostly, with the odd marquee signing but not every year as it spreads the risk.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

They got done by UEFA for repeated and flagrant breaches of Article 19 and were given a transfer ban in 2014. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/30633737. And because they’re cunts, they pretended is was an admin thing.
In reality they were finding kids, mainly in South America, who they weren’t allowed to bring to Spain for the purposes of football, then finding employment (real or otherwise) for parents in Spain, assisting with visas etc, so that the families could move for ‘non football related reasons’, then coincidentally signing the kids to the academy.Last edited by Kenneth; 10-07-21, 04:43 PM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years
