        My prediction is they don’t take up the option to buy him in the summer.

          How much is the fee they have the option to buy him for?
          The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

            I hope he's fully recovered from his bad back.

              I don't think he will do well and that hewill turn out to be an expensive loan deal (Barca saying that Villa are paying 65% of his 300k weekly wage), but will be hoping I am wrong and that he scores winning goals against both Manc teams, Everton, Leeds and Newcastle along with being as **** against us as he was when he came to Anfield with Barca.

              Would have added Chelsea to his to do list but Villa have already played them twice in the league.
              I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

                I think he’ll be fine. Gerrard knows what he’s good at and will make him the creative fulcrum of the team, definitely a step in the right direction for Stevie at Villa imo.

                  I think they'll be lucky to get 10 league starts out of him and unlikely to get a full 90 minutes.

                    I haven’t heard the fee mentioned but I don’t think he’ll do well there. It’s been too long since he shone & doesn’t look interested imo.

                      It’d be nice if he helped get us back into contention ;

                        It's pretty low i think. I thought I'd read it was £35m or so but i could be wrong.

                        You'd hope he wouldn't be trying to match his Barca wages.

                          35m for him is still crazy even for a team like Villa. In reality he will have zero resale value

                            He is 29. That price for a 29 year old Coutinho a couple of years ago would be considered crazy good value. If Gerrard can play to his strengths that we know he has, then I think it would be considered a good deal.

                              They won't buy him - if he goes well I suspect someone else will want him. If he doesn't go well then they won't take it up.......... basically a free hit on both sides. Him to play regularly and be the central point of a decent side with a manager who he knows.

                              I suspect he will be sold much lower next season or be on loan again - he was sooooooo good for us. We got massive money at the time but I thought he'd thrive at Barca as one of the attacking 8s in a 4-3-3......... he was never given that chance. We all said he was the shoe in to replace Iniesta. A disaster for both Coutinho and Barca and a triumph for us

                              Villa won't pay that for an almost 30 year old - it doesn't fit with their model (maybe Ings aside) but......... they are very rich and super ambitious. Maybe a firing Coutinho for 3 years pays it back if they can make top 4. A lot depends on him and how he "feels" about this chance

                                But a bog standard PL player now goes for about £20m. Someone of a decent level and experience usually around £30-40m. I can see it.
