I only saw bits & pieces of the Wolves match but I read the match report & the author claimed a real lack of pace from Minamino was obvious. Anyone care to elaborate on this
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Not sure about that, I mean he’s not Mané so not really sure he was bought for his pace.

Overall was a far from ideal situation to make your league debut. He struggled a bit and the team lost a bit of shape when he cane on. But can’t say I noticed anything about his pace.

He did do this with pretty much his first touch.

On Minamino’s debut, the German said: “Super. We had the situation that Sadio goes off, we played tonight slightly different to usually.

“We had to defend in a 4-4-2 then played offensive in our normal system. If now Div is coming on, who would deserve it, 100 per cent, because he is in incredible shape, it’s really very offensive very early in the game.

“Taki had now two or three weeks training with us, played different positions in training at least, played centrally in the FA Cup game, now played right and left wing.

“He can play that, we need him, but he is not a winger in this understanding, he’s a player for between the lines so Oxlade had then to be a bit higher so that we had still offers in behind, so we can still stretch the formation.

“So it was really difficult for Taki, he felt immediately the calf, at half-time he needed treatment – we hope it’s nothing and he could go through so it should be fine.

“That was, for the first Premier League game, exceptionally well and he is completely integrated in the team and that’s really good.”

                            I'll elaborate. It's bollocks

He's new. He doesn't understand the system fully yet. Robbo had three months on the bench, Fabinho similar. He did really well tonight coming on as he had to. I was particularly impressed at one stage by the way he slipped into right-back to cover for Trent, suggesting he gets what he needs to do.

Lack of pace isn't an issue. Lack of understanding and sharpness is. But that will come. Then we'll see if he's really up to it or not. He was the right option once Mane was injured tonight. That's all that matters.

I thought he did alright, he was never going to be the player we saw at Salzburg tonight so with that in mind, it was pretty sound.

I loved the way he lifted the ball above the on-rushing player and then turned. Great skill

Honestly, I thought he looked a bit lost, didn't seem to know what he was doing or his role in the side. I don't think we will see much of him in the league this season, Klopp as we have seen will not play someone who isn't 1000% drilled down on how we play.

Regarding his pace, he did look a bit slow but tough game to come into, he played simple passes ok but that touch in the video, yeah that was just blatantly lucky miscontrol

Klopp said he had calf trouble 10 mins after coming on and was on treatment table at half time so maybe that was a reason we didn't see much of him. Hopefully if fit, he starts vs Shrewsbury, get some more minutes into him. Talk about his progress next season, only in the door at moment
