I think most of what you have said I agree with, but I still think you've stereotyped him a bit. I think he is a bit more skilful and technical than you're giving him credit for. His last few games for us showed that IMO, his all round play in those games was very good.
I'm not judging him at all. I'm merely commenting on what I feel are his strengths and weaknesses. To me, they are very obvious just from his time at LFC. IMO from what I can see since he joined skill, technique etc aren't his strong points ... more so having explosive pace and power & being unpredictable. His passing doesn't really concern me with the way he plays. I do feel the more time he has on the ball though the worse the outcome seems, much better when his natural instincts kick in.

He's improved with us as the season has gone along (surprise!) he's now a goal every 121 minutes in the league which isn't bad whatsoever; he still needs to continue moving in the direction he's been showing but in a team that was nowhere near the levels of the past few seasons he's done pretty well.

Hopefully continues the trajectory in the next half of this season whilst also hoping the likes of Trent and Virgil remember what they're capable of as well!

It’s not that he’s bad, isn’t improving, won’t score goals, for me it’s just a little disappointing that we lost Mane and didn’t replace him with a world class player, which he isn’t at the moment. It’s a shame we were in the market for a player with potential, a rough diamond if you like, when we were in the position of being one of the top teams on the world. It’s nothing to do with him really

The question there then is who was realistically available at the time. It seems an odd stance to take as that's been the approach with most of the players we've brought in, Mane being a prime example.

Which world class players which were available would you have preferred we bought?

(Edit - just saw RichC has said pretty much the same thing)

Mane had been horrible for 2 seasons before his renaissance last season. He looked a completely different player when Covid hit.

Plus we bought Diaz who plays Mane's spot. Or is Diaz **** too?

I am not sure it is realistic for a club like ours to BUY world class players, we need to develop good players into world class players. We have done that with players like Sadio, Mo, Virgil and so on. But they got that good in part because they got games. It is a difficult balancing act, but far more interesting to me than the nation-state ownership approach.

I get what you are saying but come on man. I think you know exactly what I mean. An observation and a judgement are not not synonymous. The word "judge" has such a negative connotation to it & if you feel that I "judged" him in a negative way, which it does seem like you do ... then fair enough. I like to think it was a fair observation of his performances in the 2 games in the WC & what his skillset is in general.

Ah, so you only judge players on goals and assists now?

                            Darwin's doing fine then

Mane was outstanding in 2019/20. Probably his best season for overall performance.
Arguably our best player that season too.

Maybe it was just the one season + post covid restart then. But he was ****ing ****. Lost all his pace, couldn't control a football and missed chance after chance.
