The Guardian describe him tonight as a player who plays like he is being chased by an invisible swarm of bees!

No player in Premier League history has scored more 90th-minute winners away from home than Darwin Núñez (3)

Seems so low but then again how often would you get the chance to do it. Two last season and one this season.

Imagine he goes on a mad scoring spree and gets 15 or so league goals for the season.

Would you want to keep him then?

I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

The season before we purchased him is the only year he was positive against xg.

Although it seems unlikely he would score that many, but its also imoortant to check against the quality and accuracy of his shooting. If he is constantly in negative, it means he is below the average. I guess you could argue that is fine for 5th/6th choice, but Im guessing we can leverage some cash back for him.

Problem is our entire forward line seems to be misfiring at the moment, so those goals become more vital.

Ultimately, we dont seem to have a consistent forward playing centrally ,and we are going to have to buy someone, imho.

I hope to see a bit more of Jayden Danns centrally if we decide against loaning him out in the Cups & off the bench.

These are his premier league stats

                      81 starts
                      33 subs

                      24 goals
                      7 goals as sub

That 7 is the second most of any player in the league since he joined.

Maybe he’s an impact sub rather than a starter?

He's certainly good against tiring legs - he's so powerful, coupled with being random as ****. He certainly has a big goal in him - that much has already been proven.

There is an argument that opposition are less likely to take advantage of one of his brain farts, when they're out on the feet from chasing us for most of a game.

I still like him quite a bit and think there is a place for him in the squad. Jota's unavailability is more of a concern for me, TBH.

On The Second Captain's podcast, they were saying that the XG for Darwin's second goal was 0.64 but that the stat for the shot he took to score (I forget the technical stat term) was something like 0.24. So if I'm understanding this correctly, this type of chance results in a goal 60% of the time but Darwin's "choice" of finish for this type of chance would only result in a one quarter conversion rate.

I think those 2 goals brought him into positive xg for the first time at Liverpool.

                              How did he play yeserday?

OK in my view - good first half, lots of effort and defensive work, but wasn't always in the right place for a No 9 as the game opened up in the second half
