I dont think any of those are particularly tight finishes though.

There is not much bend on them and they are quite central. The chances he was missing coming in from a tight angle are not goals he would typically score. The vast majority are headers and tapins inside the box. Despite being a powerful runner, his goals are most often provided by a cross. This is unlike Suarez and Salah, who often run in from an angle to take the shot.
They are very different players. I dont think Nunez has the technique to finish as well on the run.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I can only comment in what I see, and Im not seeing a player who is a great finisher, and I dont think he ever will be. He can still bag us 20 a season and cause chaos, but he is going to scuff a few and he certainly not going to turn into Suarez
he isn't good technically and apart from aggression and drive he is nothing like Suarez who had amazing technical ability and some of the best I've ever seen in tight spaces.
Nunez imo is all about running on to the ball over the shoulder or in between the lines and he does seem good in the air. His passing, hold up play and first touch for me will never be the strongest aspects of his game. He can certainly improve on some things but some things you either have or you have not. This does not mean he will not score goals and we need a match winner.
If we concentrate on what he has and his positives, he is a pure athlete, makes great runs, is aggressive and has a strong will to win. He has definitely suffered from some pressure early doors but now it's clear the guy will literally get chances in every single game... whether or not his composure can improve in front of goal remains to be seen. As it stands he is nowhere near Haaland or Kane who are world class but imo he will improve and needs to if he wants to be a perma starter at LFC.Last edited by danperkins; 28-12-22, 01:27 PM.

Yeah my point was he can run, and he can shoot... but I dont think he is great at doing them both together. He can finish quite well when he is static in the box or running onto a ball, but when he is charging in his accuracy is not there. Obviously if he could he would be unstoppable. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

That seems a very specific type of goal you are looking, which I'm sure we'll see plenty of in time. Also sounds like the Milan goal I posted above.Originally posted by Charly View PostYeah my point was he can run, and he can shoot... but I dont think he is great at doing them both together. I haven't watched his Benfica goals, but his xg stats suggest he is an excellent finisher (26 goals, 15.73 xG).
A lot of parallels with Suarez so far, who you also referenced. If he was one of the worst finishers you've ever seen, what makes you believe that Nunez can't go on and do something similar? If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Lol... I never said that about Suarez.
One goal out of 30+ does not prove he can score those consistently.
He can and will score for us, but he will need service with balls into the box. That is his strength. Not him bursting into the box with the ball, as he struggles with his accuracy while on the move. I just think people have set their expectations high because of his blistering pace, which I think will be more useful in creating than scoring.
Maybe he will dramtically improve his ahot on the run. I just have my doubts. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

If that had gone through to Salah and he scored he would have been worshipped around the globe. Great vision. Bonus that the keeper and defender took each other outOriginally posted by Kenneth View Post

If Salah could have got there and there werent two defenders in the way. Hes an 80 million pound professional footballer, not a competition winner. Lets praise the great stuff. That wasnt. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I wasn't sure about him on first viewing, specially the lack of skill and sub par on the ball decision making. But both of these things can be trained and come with settling down, which he's not had the luxury of yet.
The one thing we're not doing is not noticing him. He is always involved. Like you said, the mayhem/chaos. Konsa's miskick was partially him being **** but mostly because he was aware/scared of Nunez behind him. Nunez induced that fear.
I'm now a big fan and it's just a waiting game. He will evolve.
Please, for God's sake don't be injury prone Darwin.
One tit for another.

Anyways, you stick with the lemmings slating him at every opportunity

It was the opposite of good vision, a lack of awareness of the position of players around him. Every player tries stuff that doesn’t work and it’s fair enough, but you expect your number nine to be at least testing to the keeper from there.Originally posted by Assassin View PostIf that had gone through to Salah and he scored he would have been worshipped around the globe. Divok scores there
