    Cheeky ****ers

They've just been booted out of the 7 week world cup by Ireland after 5 days and they think they deserve a 2 day break

They must be spending their winnings

Jamaican police are questioning members of Pakistan's cricket squad over the death of coach Bob Woolmer.

The interviews were taking "up to an hour for each player", team manager Talat Ali told Reuters news agency.

Woolmer, 58, was found in his hotel room on Sunday, the day after his team lost to Ireland in the World Cup.

Police are still unable to confirm how he died and are treating the case as "suspicious". His wife denies he killed himself and refuses to rule out murder.

        More tests

Pakistan team spokesman Pervez Mir said the players were not interviewed under caution.

He said police were trying to work out Woolmer's last movements.

Mark Shields, the deputy chief commissioner of Jamaican police, said: "We're going through a process of speaking to people, including members of the team."

The BBC's Andy Gallacher in Kingston says Woolmer's death has begun to cast a shadow over the entire cricket World Cup.

He says the circumstances surrounding the death are becoming bogged down in rumour and speculation and police are coming under mounting pressure to come up with definitive answers as quickly as possible.

Results of more tests on Woolmer's body are still awaited.

A police spokesman confirmed they had now decided to seek the opinion of a second pathologist.

Police have also rejected suggestions they are treating the case as murder after a report that a broken bone had been found in Woolmer's neck.

Police described the source quoted by the Jamaica Gleaner as a rogue member of the force.

Meanwhile, the UK's Metropolitan Police is "ready to assist" its Jamaican counterpart with the investigation, Deputy Commissioner Paul Stephenson has told the BBC.

But he said there had been no explicit request for help.

        'Absolute rubbish'

Speaking at her home in South Africa, Gill Woolmer said she expected her husband's body would be flown home after the second pathologist concluded his investigation.

She said she had been given "some indication" of why police thought her husband's death was suspicious, but did not reveal what it was.

"The second pathologist's test should be available and as soon as we get that the investigation will be winding down and they will be able to send his body back to South Africa," Gill Woolmer said.

Speaking to Sky News, she added: "There is always the possibility that it could have been [murder]."

Bob Woolmer was known to suffer from diabetes, but his widow dismissed the suggestion that he died from a drugs overdose.

"Bob had Type 2 diabetes, which you do not have to take drugs for. Reports of him drinking and overdosing on drugs are absolute rubbish," she said.

Woolmer, a former England Test player, was found unconscious last Sunday and died later that day.

Pakistan team trainer Murray Stephenson is due to accompany his body to South Africa when the investigation is concluded.

On Channel 4 now, the 2nd independant pathologist ALSO believes Woolmer was strangled to death

wasn't Woolmer linked to Fletchers job?

Seriosuly though, this is ****ing terrible, I can't believe this has happened. Cricket is supposed to be a quaint game watched and played by pipe smoking gentlemen.

              Shocked and appalled.

Just seen the report on Channel 4 News - still on now in fact.

As Chilli said, the 2nd pathologist claims he was strangled to death and a murder inquiry will be declared open "imminently".

He was putting himself in the frame for this job.
He wasn't committing to Pakistan and he openly courted the ECB officials. He wanted the job.
In fact Woolmer would have had the job in 1999 before Fletcher but his honour counted against him. At the time of the 1999 World cup in England he was SA coach/manager. He hadn't comitted his future to them but he refused to even talk to the ECB during the world cup because his focus was purely on SA's world cup attempt. He wanted the job but the ECB stupidly rushed into appointing someone else.
Woolmer was never bitter about it though

One interesting thing I note about all this talk is Imran Khan. He's making very public comments all the time about how Woolmer was diabetic and "possibly had high blood pressure". How the **** does he know, he wasn't Woolmer's doctor and "possibly had high blood pressure" is pure speculation. I think Imran should shut the **** up and keep out of it.

Agreed about Imran. Just saw him on Ch4 News laughing off the possibility of murder. I thought that was rather flippant and misguided.

Exactly, it's nothing to do with him

It's absolutely incredible, I'm still hoping they've made a mistake and he wasn't murdered.

Just heard that they've discovered finger marks around his neck as though he was strangled

                        Latest theory is:

Woolmer was puking over the toilet bowl, slipped and broke a bone in his throat, which eventually led to him gasping for air and passing away.

Finger marks could be explained as his own trying to dislodge said bone.

Hmmm, presumably they've got a reason for him puking over the toilet then.

I suppose that theory is easy to prove/disprove as his hands would still be near his neck and the marks would match the dimensions of woolmers own hands.

Strange that 2 pathologists think he was strangled

I don't know, but this seems very very bizarre. How can this happen, surely there is security?
Yes you could break your neck falling, but that wouldnt explain the bruising around the neck

I hope it does all turn out to be a horrific accident or the result of dying from "natural causes" (is that the right term? ).
The idea that Bob could have been murdered makes my stomach turn
