Pick your Cricket ODI World XI

If you could pick a World XI side for a ODI including players those that have retired who would you pick & why:

    My XI:

    Openers:

    Matthew Hayden & Adam Gilchrist

Possibly the greatest opening partnership in the ODI history. A must in the team. Gilchrist would obviously take the wicketkeeper's role in my team.

    3rd:

    Tendulkar

The greatest Indian batsman of all time & highest scorer in ODI Cricket with over 14,000 runs.

    4th:

    Kevin Pietersen

Quite frankly the only England player i would ever consider picking.

    5th:

    Sanath Jayasuria

Sri Lanka's greatest batsman of all time - also picked him coz his useful as a 5th bowler.

    6th:

    Ponting

Best ODI captain for a long time & had to squeeze him in my team. Would be my team captain.

    7th:

    Jonty Rhodes

Greatest fielder & revoultionised ODI Cricket with his fielding techniques which have now been copied by all the teams.

    8th:

    Bret Lee

Sad to see him not at this World Cup but one of the greatest fast bowlers currently playing. Also is useful with the bat.

    9th:

    Shaun Pollock

Best SA bowler in ODI cricket. Also is useful with the bat.

    10th:

    Glen Mcgrath

Even at his age he is still a very good wicket taker in ODI cricket.

    11th:

    Murali

Best spinner in ODI Cricket - was a close call between him & Warne but chose Murali.

forget this retired crap, my dream team for today would be:

Hayden-Best opener in the world atm
Jayasuria-Can destroy any opening bowling partnership just pips gilly for me
Ponting(c)- Best captain in the world
Pieterson- Best batter in the world
Kallis- Best allrounder in the world
Styris- Is in fabulous form has to make my team
Dhoni- Biased opinion i know but i think within a year he will become the best wicky/batsman in the world
Bond- Opening bowler 1, great bowler and can bat abit aswell
Malingia- 1st change bowler- the salinger is a major threat
McGrath- Opening bowler 2, may have lost abit of pace but he has class
Murali- Mite aswell have another chucker in the team ey

Even then Shane Warne would surely have to be in your team??

Brett Lee and Pollock shouldn't even be close to any greatist team of all time even with a short memory you could have picked Wasim Akram, Courtney Walsh or Curtly Ambrose ?? All great bowler imo.

Rhodes great fielder and a nice lad (met him when he played for Gloucestershire) shouldn't be in there either imo of corse

                        My world cup XI

                        Hayden
                        Jayasuriya
                        Ponting
                        Clarke
                        Styris
                        Kallis
                        Gilchrist
                        Bond
                        McGrath
                        Vaas
                        Murali

Vaas and Bond as starting bowlers right and left arm combination with great control, with McGrath and Murali at the changes. Also have Styris, Kallis and Jayasuriya who all provide good bowling support, but had great world cups with the bat.

Pietersen had a cracking world cup, but in terms of consistency and especially when it mattered at the end of the tournament I chose Michael Clarke.
                        Quit your jibber jabber!!!

Jermaine, you know the song Billie Jean...is it about the tennis player??

Hmm, that's pretty tricky. Is it OK if I get back to you on that?
                              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
