There are too many cricketing knights, revealing the biases of the public school educated tw*ts that run this country (both in the Civil Service and Parliament).

              It's all a load of cr*p anyway.

Botham has done a lot of good work for charity and he was a great cricketer. I dislike him for what I remember of his antediluvian attitude to women.

He's not a saint but then who is?
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Imran Khan was captain and led from the front in his teams victory against Botham's England. He capped his career with his greatest triumph - Bothams greatest triumph came very early on in his career and he never ever reached the same heights.

I am sure that most knowledgable cricket lovers would accept Imran Khan was the superior player.

I'm not even going to bother to reply to such a sanctimonious post like that

Khan was great but how can anyone argue he was better than Botham? In Test cricket, Beefy scored **** loads more hundreds, **** loads more runs, a double hundred which Imran never achieved, and he took more wickets!

I've just emailed an Aussie mate of mine - very knowledgeable and neutral in this debate. His reply?

Tough one but Beefy shades it.

And Botham was not out injured when he was at his peak. If Imran had played those 2 or 3 years he would have smashed Bothams wickets taking record and scored many more runs.

Imran Khan was the better bowler, better batsman and far far superior captain. Better player allround

Anyway neither of them are the greatest all-rounder ever - that honour clearly goes to Sir Garfield Sobers.
