Haha. I think you're mistaken mate. I used to be a good junior golfer...County champion no less, but now I'm ****. I can hit it miles but other than that I'm pretty ****.

Pacman off 5 must be the best player on the site.

Funnily enough I'm going away with my old man next week, on a golfing trip. He used to be a scratch player (plays off about 3 now). Should be fun.

        Derbyshire.

I won it at Matlock Golf Club. My old man turned up to caddy for me as I was halfway round and arrived as I was teeing off on the par 3 10th. I birdied 10, eagled the next (par 5), two pars on the trot and then I drove the par 4 14th green and two putted for another birdie.

I didn't always play like that, but I think for a moment my old fella thought he'd got a new Nick Faldo on his hands.

Alas, he couldn't have been more wrong. I'm ****.

Did you ever play for your county?

I thought I might of played against you. I played for the Isle Of Man in the Nortern counties as a junior and I thought our paths might of crossed.

No mate, couldn't be arsed with all that. I was too busy getting wrecked.

The one I won was Derbyshire Schools - so it was in school's time and I was delighted to take part. I never got involved in the extra-curricular stuff in your own free time. **** that!

Did you ever play in the inter schools team thing?

Our school didn't get involved in the inter-school team events...they just entered a few of us in the individual tournaments. I played in a few...the one I won at Matlock, one at Chevin and another one at Erewash, but no team events.

Oh, I also remember playing in some pupil/teacher event. I saw Mr Withers' cock in the showers - he was the hairiest man I'd ever seen - and it was deeply unsettling.

My school only let us play in the inter school events. I remember I lost my head on the 18th green after a **** round and 3 putted from 8 foot using my sandwedge. We missed out on qualifying for the national finals by one shot I got the biggest bollocking of my life and the 2 other lads from our school wanted to batter me the next day in class.

You daft sod. Why the sand wedge?

We didn't have enough players in our year to do the team stuff - they only ever entered just the two of us (me and my best mate) in the individual events. The beauty of that was, I was pretty good and he was absolutely ****, so when the results were read out in assembly he'd be red-faced and I'd be smug and popular.

The year I won it I got to watch him tee-off...in front of a crowd of all the crack golfers from the county. He hit the ground about a foot before the ball and nudged the ball off its peg - didn't even make it off the teeing area. He ended up in the trees, about 30 yards ahead of the tee, and hacked around haplessly before finally making it out of our sight.

He was by the 18th to greet me when I finished. I walked off thinking I'd have a chance of winning it and asked him how he'd got on.

                    "One hundred and forty six."

He ended up finishing plum last - about fifteen shots adrift of the next-placed hacker.

                      FLMAO @ your mate

I'd just chipped up and could be arsed getting my putter out of my bag so tried putting with my sand iron.

I remember I played in the Junior Island Championships with this young lad about 15 years ago. The poor lad was nervous as anything and shanked it all over the place. I remember the 2nd hole was a long par 3. He knocked a 5 wood about 15 yards short and then proceeded to shank the ball literally round the green until it went out of bounds. He went round in 147 and got the nickname Jimmy White. I saw him a couple of months ago and his mates were calling him Jimmy

Funny as ****. One worse than my mate. DAMN why didn't my pal shoot 147?! He ended up being my best man and it would've made for some ace banter.

I did used to get very nervous myself, mind, especially teeing off in front of all the really good players. Couldn't be doing with tournament golf anymore. I used to play in a few medals at my club but always hated it.

I gave up for 4 years ago because it got to serious. People putting to much preasure on me. I got down to scratch and the Island selectors were watching me with the view to going away and playing in the Island games (can't remember where it is was but this year it's in Rhodes). I was playing in a big Island comp and I went round in 72 (it was a par 70) I was gutted and never got picked. I only hit 4 greens in regulation all day and scrambled like anything and I just thought **** this I'm only 22 I don't need all this **** and gave up. I never picked a club up for 3 years. Now I'm back playing but I don't want to play for the Island I just play for fun.

                            Bloody hell.

I don't blame you...you definitely don't need that sort of **** when you're young. I never picked up a club for almost ten years until a couple of summers ago. It's much better playing every so often just for fun.

I'm playing in comps again but I'm not as good as I was and there is no pressure on me.

My mates have taken it up as well it's so funny seeing them get stress heads on because they can't hit the ****er. One of the lads is the most mild mannered blokes you'll ever meet but he's already snapped 2 clubs.
