Sampras has a big advantage and that's that the players isn't used to play against serve and volley players. Björkman is a good example of that. He isn't any better now than a few years ago but his playing style makes him a difficult player to play against.
On the other hand, Sampras is older, the balls are heavier and the courts slower which negate his major strengths.

When Borg came back he was hopeless.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'll love her and Federer even more if the nice sum of money I have on them both comes off...

                      So far so good...

My thoughts exactly. Just watching today at Wimbledon. That grunting is really pissing me off. What the hell is wrong with her. She even does it on gentle shots.

                          Spoilt the viewing for me

                              Wimbledon 'ready' for third week

Wimbledon could be extended into a third week in order to deal with the delays caused by the wet weather, tournament officials have confirmed.
"It's a possibility," All England Club chief executive Ian Ritchie told BBC Radio Four. "If it happens, so be it.

"If the weather holds up, we can meet the schedule in the singles.

"We're ready for it, we're prepared for it. If we have to play a tennis match on a Monday, it's not the end of the world."

The tournament is badly behind schedule after seven days of rain interruptions.

Players have criticised the decision not to play on the middle Sunday but Ritchie firmly rejected their complaints, saying that Wimbledon had "the most player-friendly schedule in tennis".

Second seed Rafael Nadal said officials "did not think about the players" after it took him five days to complete his rain-interrupted third-round match.

Fourth seed Novak Djokovic, who also needed until Wednesday to reach only the fourth round, said: "What I didn't agree with is that there was no play on Sunday. I think it's a bad decision by the organisers."

John McEnroe also criticised Wimbledon's organisation and believes the fixture backlog is unfair on the men's draw.

Three-time champion and BBC pundit McEnroe said Wimbledon had "put themselves in this situation".

"There's been some bungled scheduling," he added. "They didn't play on Sunday, they didn't put Rafael Nadal's game against Robin Soderling on first (on Tuesday) and now it has cost them.

"I totally disagree with the decision not to play on Sunday.

"It's now unfair for the players at the bottom half of the men's draw and it's really going to make life difficult for whoever makes the finals.

"That's because they are so far behind at the bottom that they are faced with the situation where it would be better for the bottom half of the draw if they don't finish on Sunday.

"But I can't see how they're going to get it finished by Sunday."

Earlier this week, tournament referee Andrew Jarrett defended the decision not to play matches on this year's middle Sunday.

He argued that before Saturday, when only 57 minutes of play was possible on Centre Court, the singles events had been on schedule.

Play has only taken place three times on the middle Sunday - in 1991, 1997 and 2004.

The last time Wimbledon failed to finish on schedule was 2001, when wildcard Goran Ivanisevic's five-set win over Pat Rafter was completed a day late.

The current backlog is the worst since 1982, when more than three times the average midsummer rainfall forced third round matches into the second Wednesday.

In total, Wimbledon is due to stage 734 matches in 13 events across the 13 days of the Championships.
