I can see WWE getting a call from the powers that be. They should look after their employees more, he's the 16th wrestler to kill themselves in the last 10 years or so
Whilst it's a tragedy, I don't think you can lay the blame at WWE's door, not that I ever watch pro wrestling.
This man has murdered his wife and child. That is the reason he has killed himself. I dare say the other suicides did not involve murders.

Forget the fact that he's killed himself, more important/tragic is the fact that he's murdered his wife and child.

This is pretty shocking over here in the states. I'm pretty young, so you could probably guess. These guys are my heroes *laughs*. Seriously. This is so sad... He was a great wrestlor, but you have to question his mental stability. Maybe WWE was dispatching the possibility of Roid Rage to cover their own behinds... I was reading earlier posts. BobTheCharmer-san's making me feel bad about being "Today's Youth." xD

        >.> Poor mother and child. He'd better be PRETTY darn drugged to kill a 7 year old child.

Thank you, IrishPaul-san, PaulD12-san. Are there really so many Paul's here?
I'm just so surprised. Look's like WWE removed all the tribute shows when they discovered it was a double-homocide-suicide. My friend asked earlier if I think Benoit-sako would end up in the hall of fame. I said, "A-chan, That would be quite a shock. I think people might outrage!" What are they going to do now about the Vince McMahon-dono's death plot? They've got to pull it now, I would hope. WWE has a history of often doing things in bad taste, though...

I take your point mate but I think if you met Benoit in hell he'd have you tapping out to a crippler crossface before you could even throw your first windmill

When you work 300 days out of 365 and are constantly travelling to shows, performing and then moving onto the next show it will affect you mentally. I'm used to travelling constantly being a former artic driver and it brought me to the edge of a nervous breakdown. My doctor advised me to quit which is what I did. These guys (love them or hate them) are doing this for something they love and to entertain the fans. They are exceptional athletes but all the bumps etc take their toll on the body and most of the performers end up hooked on prescription drugs.

I'm not saying Benoit was right, I used to hold him in the highest esteem as probably the most gifted technical wrestler in the world but to kill a seven year old boy and his wife is inexcusable. I haven't followed any wrestling for over two years now thank god as it's all the same with little to variation in storylines.

It has been reported that Nancy (Benoits wife) took out restraining order on him in 2003 and filed for divorce on the grounds of spousal abuse and violence so something must have happened again. A year ago benoit was called paranoid by the lockeroom boys because he thought he was being followed and seldom allowed Nancy out of the house.

                          Well ...

The thing about being a wrestler is this: You have to be in top shape all the time - that means that you have to train every day in a year. With WWE (or WCW in the nineties) events being held all across the States, you have to travel a lot. You're basicly on the road 24/7. That's a very tiring schedule and if you count in the pain that you get inside the ring on a regular basis, that could drive you mad.

A lot of guys just couldn't handle the pressure and started drinking, using drugs etc. Sting and Scott Hall for example. If you watch Razor Ramon at WWF or Scott Hall at WCW and then see him now, you can see what drugs and alcohol did to him.

The guys that did all this ****e are the ones with families, a wife and young children. They get depressed because they can't see their family and totally **** themselves up. Luckily, some of them became Born Again Christians and stayed clean, but majority of them were just the case of overdrinking and drug abuse. Some of them had side effects of various steroids and killed themselves or died when their hearts just couldn't take it no more.

It's really a stressful job, but THEY have decided to do it, they signed a multi-million $ contracts.

Wrestling today is all about power, it's all about show and the WWE company (I can safely say that WWE is the only promotion in America - TNA is waaaay back) is having a weirder storyline every week - that means that a wrestler is bound to do some odd **** inside or outside the ring. Although these guys are professionals, the storylines sometimes are just too ridiculous to play them through.

WWE today is a very baaaaaad copy of WWF (or WCW for that matter). Back in the Monday night wars (between WWF's RAW and WCW's NITRO), wrestlers used to FIGHT! They used to get in the ring, do some promos and fight. It's not about that anymore in WWE. The storylines they come up with are just shameful.

Look at the Hulkamania in WWF and WCW ... Young kids were over the moon when they saw their heroes fighting other wrestlers. It was always a good guy versus a villain. Hulk Hogan in the ring, tearing his shirt and waving around with the US flag really turned him in to a hero in many boy's eyes. Or Bret Hart waving a Canadian flag in Canada. It was all about that - a good battling the evil. And the good always won (well, not always, but you get the point).

Today the writers are just getting too extreme. I remember a footage being shown on live tv at WWE event when Sgt. Slaughter grabbed his gun and started shooting at Stone Cold Steve Austin at his property and shouting "son of a bitch, I ****ing hate you!". Or all the ass-sniffing that occured later (Vince McMahon sniffing Rakishi's ass or Shane McMahon sniffing his daddy's ass) or when Steve Austin blew up a bus and this **** around Vince McMahon's death ... This might be entertaining for the adults, but for kids ... If I had kids (10 yrs or younger), I wouldn't want them to watch this crap.

I blame it all on the writers. When Vince Russo came from WWF to WCW, World Championship Wrestling was never the same. Suddenly, the whole show was in blood - literally. At one event the Vampiro and Sting were fighting in blood. Vampiro later hanged Sting by his neck and beat the **** out of him ... That's sooo not for kids. Their traditonal pay-per-views were renamed from Slamboree, Superbrawl etc. to Baptised in blood, New blood rising ... Bunch of bull****. And eventually the company went under because all this **** got too extreme - there was no fighting, just promos using bad language.

The best storyline writer for me is Eric Bischoff. He came up with the nWo that changed the wrestling forever. He came up with the name "cruiserweight". He is responsible that WWE Raw is live every week, because he made WCW Nitro live every week and McMahon needed to have his event live to compete in the monday night wars. He was THE MAN in professional wrestling. And during his reign, he brought other idols in wrestling: Dennis Rodman, Jay Leno ... He knew what the kids like and he gave them that. WWE today are ignoring their biggest fans (the children) and are producing shows that are sometimes too extreme even for the adults.

I might got a bit off topic here (and I apologise for that), but I just needed to get this out of the system.

Now regarding Chris Benoit - I never liked him as a wrestler. He was a midget and had crap intro music. I always thought that he was a bit weird to be honest. I read in Eric Bischoff's book that sometimes Chris Benoit was hard to reach and when they reached him, he would go completely insane and that it was very hard to work with.

And to kill his kid ... Well, to kill anyone is ****ing disgraceful, but to kill his 7 year-old kid - hope he rots in hell. His last actions brought a shadow upon WWE (and WCW) and most importantly on "The 4 hoursemen" that was the second best wrestling group in the history after nWo.

                          That little ****!

Some more info this morning. Apparently his kid was found to have an x chromosome disorder a number of years ago. The child's doc said that Benoit didn't take it all well. She seems to think that Benoit didn't want his kid to have to face upto that illness and move to a new family altogether and decided to take his life

All speculation really. Not condoning what he has done. But no one knows the full story and what was happening. No excuse for taking a childs life though, no excuse at all

I read the same thing this morning but it still doesn't explain what led him to murdering his wife, something must have been seriously ****ed up in his head. My own opinion is that steroids had a major influence in this tragedy

Isn't there someone who posts on here that is employed by WWE and builds the rings and entrance sets etc...?? Might be worth seeing if he know's what is being said within the company about all of this, if he'll post that kind of info that is.
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.
