Foggy - what some of us said would happen did happen.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

You moron - you don't know anything about cycling so your attempt at satire is founded on your own ignorance.

More interestingly, I saw Hunter outsprint Cancellara yesterday being on the barrier 35m from the finish line. Today went down to the start and got some pics, soaked up the atmosphere before drinking a nice bottle of wine at lunch.

I hear London is underwater. I do hope the cricket is going well.

                          Joke sport, just like athletics.

Now the ****ing leader has been kicked off the tour.

Race leader Michael Rasmussen has been kicked out of the Tour de France and sacked by his Rabobank team.

The 33-year-old Dane has been at the centre of controversy during the Tour since it was revealed he missed out-of-competition drugs tests.

Rasmussen looked odds-on to win the Tour on Sunday after taking Wednesday's stage, which increased his lead over second-placed rider Alberto Contador.

But Rabobank have learnt he lied to them about his whereabouts in June.

Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

To be fair cycling is trying much harder to stop cheating in terms o drugs than most other sports. Howevere this is a real kick in the balls for the sport - I 'm not even sure why ther team have done this as it is not even necessarily an important issue in the long run. If he is clean in terms of rthe drugs tests during the race surely any job related infringement is very much secondary, unless the team knows there is more to it.

Very dubious, and sad for a great sporting institution.

It looks like Rabobank were forced into the decision when the rumours of his, Rasmussen, being in Italy when he had told his team he was in Mexico looked as if they were about to go public. The Tour officials tonight stated that Rabobank knew of the this lie at the end of June but did nothing about it.

The thing with drug testing is that the punishment for missing a test has to be at least as strong as that of failing a test or those that are cheating will pick the timing of their testing. The team itself are waiting until the morning before deciding whether to withdraw from the race, but it looks unlikely that they will have much choice.

That the teams are being made to be responsible for its riders in this way hopefully will mean that the team sponsors will be more vigilant than they have been previously, at present the sponsors have been willing to pass off these infringements as individual choices that they are not responsible for. But it will take a determined effort at changing the culture within the sport as well as its testing procedures to get cycling clean, and that will take years.

Too much money and pressure from sponsors etc to get results is ruining sport in general. IMO, it won't be long till we face such problems in football.

Doping doesn't come with all the risks that came with it ages ago ... It's much more sophisticated now ...
