As much as I hate to say it the end was more than a few fights ago. He should have given up after the Baldomir fight but I guess he thought he had more left to prove.

I've followed Gatti for years and have always loved his style but it's plain to see on tonights evidence that everything he had, that made him a true great, is gone.

Quite sad to watch really.

He didn't have to. The ref should have stopped it and he probably would have had it been any other fighter but Gatti has been there before and pulled it out tha's probably why he let it go on.

One thing I admire about Gatti is that he never just gives up. His form of defence when he's on the ropes like that is to keep swinging back and he tried that tonight but he just wasn't strong enough.

Gomez has just said that he was getting tired and was in danger of punching himself out. It's a shame for Arturo that he couldn't have hung in there and capitalised on that but he was hammered with some meaty shots.
