Pretty much the same as the league table never lies. South Africa are rightly big favourites to win this match, but IF england were to win it, they will have deserved to. Only some bitter people on here could claim otherwise

No, no, no! Let's give it to the All Blacks cos they are the best team on the planet or the Aussies because they have the best record in the WRC or SA because they are favourites or Ireland because they have played so well in the Six Nations or France because they were hosts!

If England ****ing win then they will deserve it otherwise what is the point of the tournament. The same goes for any winner.

Since Liverpool indisputably is in England the only way that sentence can be correct is if you're saying identity is not an objective given but a matter of choice based on what we as individuals find important.

It's a subtle point but I think your point makes a lot of sense.

Of course, in that case, your antipathy to England is a matter of personal choice too. You don't have to see it that way but you choose to do so, which is understandable I think.
