question : how do the NFL determine the off weeks for teams year in year out ? Is it a lottery thing ?

I would guess it is based on TV ratings, big sporting events/conferences in that city. It always seems like the Redskins have an early bye week each year though.

That's all I see stopping them. They can beat the Colts again at home and the NFC has no credible opponent to put up against them.

Absolutely. They'd destroy either of the two.
The only team that could possibly even come close to beating them are the Colts and even they were blown away in the last quarter a few days ago.

I've only seen bits and bobs of that ice bowl game but agree the Pack will have advantage if its freezing cold, looking at the schedule they will play each other in Dallas on Thursday 29/11. Should be a cracker and a decider.
