. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
Singh should never have been found guilty of a racist comment based on the word of the Australian players alone. Basically some aussie players said he called Symonds a monkey , but Tendulkar said he heard nothing. The umpires heard nothing and nothing was heard either on the stump mikes or could be seen from TV footage. Now singh may or may not have said something but when there is no independent witness I don't see how he could be found guilty. Both sides had every reason to lie, particulary Ponting who's become Singh's bunny.
Are you lot (besides the Aussies) able to hear yourselves? You are rattling on about Australia's unsportsmanlike behaviour, yet you try to defend Singh's racist comment. He wouldn't have been found guilty just on hearsay for fooks sake. Wake up. And the decisions did go against India from the umpires but they were still only playing for a draw. When they get to the level where they can actually try to win the match then you can get on your high-horses, but until then, cop on to yourselves.
There's two issues here:
1) The racism issue. No fan would back up a player if he was racist on the field. Harbhajan has said something and the umpire has taken Ponting's word that it was racist. Now the panel has found him guilty and if it was a racist comment then he deserves it. I'm sceptical as nothing was picked up by anyone close to the incident except the Australians (that's my opinion). Ponting has everything to gain from seeing the back of Harbhajan, seeing as he's his bunny.
2) Shocking decisions and some frankly embarrassing behaviour by Ponting and co. Ricky grassed a catch and then appealed - something that Rashid Latif was banned 5 matches for if I remember correctly, Gilchrist taking a "catch" to dismiss Dravid with a straight face (this coming from a "walker" who never appeals unless he hears a nick) and Clarke refusing to walk after nicking it and then expecting the umpire to trust him that he took the catch to dismiss Ganguly.
India were playing to win the match, they bowled really well and overtook Australia's first innings total. Symonds should have been given out early in both innings - as we can see from his MOM award he was the deal clincher in the match. By the time the declaration came, India were out of contention for the win and a draw would have been a fair result given the Australian counter attack in the 2nd innings.
The problem is that the Australian team don't like it up them, they talk a big game about playing it hard. They can't take it that upstarts like Ranatunga and Ganguly have the nerve to give some chirp back.

Maybe we wud have played for the win and wrapped up the match in under 4 days if any one of the decisions against symonds was given.
Aussies are the best team on the planet by a country mile. But there is no way they would have wrapped up 16 wins on the row without the aid of the umpires.
And that my friends is the reason why even if you wrap up 50 wins in a row, in the minds of the cricket purists, Windies team of the late 70s and early 80s are still the greatest of all times. They played for a win and epitomized everything good about cricket.
Just sounds like sour grapes to me. You all know in your hearts, that if it were the other way around the Indians would have done the same thing - not walked, appealed for catches, etc.

Surprising that it never seems to happen the other way around. At least not at the level it happens to their opposition.
Again, I have no qualms in admitting that Aussie team in the last 10 years has been one of the best ever sports team. But I find it hard to give them the respect and admiration they deserve. Primarily due to incidents like this.
So what you are saying is that if it were the other way around it would be fine. Come on people. Tall poppy syndrome really, isn't it?
Where have i ever said that. All I am saying is that despite all their records I have trouble admiring them as the all time greatest sports team because of such antics. I do admire their absolute maniacal desire to win though.
And scream from your rooftops however you want, you will have trouble convincing every neutral ( or at least a group of cricket lovers that I interact with) that your records were not obtained without some aid from umpires.
