SA vs India Cricket series Thread

Exciting series in prospect between these sides

    India
Have to be favourites - at home, on a high, good series in Australia (One day victories, tighter in the tests <more than the scorecards reflect>)
Worries - will the distraction of the immiment 20:20 prove too much? Will all the Indian players get back injuries carrying home their pots of gold!
On a serious note - it is worrying that alot of their pacemen are getting stress/back injuries (RP for example) and I think it maybe time to rest a few of the younger pacemen

    SA
Their chances rest with Morkel and mainly Steyn and whether in the dry atmosphere in the India, he`ll be able to reverse it at speed (this is what has made him such a dangerous paceman)
They`ll miss Nel, his aggression would have be very useful
Harries - dont know how he`ll do in India

I have India to shade the series, but if Steyn gets the ball to reverse he could be v dangerous
    We need better attacking players!

    Torres aint enough

Do you know whether it is on Sky? I thought it would be, but the TV guide says no. Then the Sky website says it is

          Yes it's crazy.

Should be a good series though

Personally I think the series will be decided by the batsmen

South Africa are slow starters and their decision to have no warmup games in India can backfire

India is always a danger at home and their come back in Australia will motivate them

I think South Africa have the better fast bowlers, but India dominate the spinning department. It will be interesting to see how Harris does on the slow wickets, but in India - Kumble and Harbhajan have all the experience and the SA batsmen will need to be at the top of their game

Crucial is the fact that Gary Kirsten takes control for the First Time and his 'insider' knowledge can be vital for India

Sreesanth did very well for India in South Africa and it will be interesting to see how he does in India

Good start by SA. Winning the crucial toss and 109/0 at lunch

Smith and McKenzie racing to 50s

good start to the day for your boys, disappointed with the bowling. I must say, our batting lineup does new new blood sooner rather than later. I dont know why some of the lads who did so well in Australia arent given a longer go in the test side. We can not rely on Sachin, Rahul et al forever.

players should never be picked on the basis of their colour. If you are good enough then you should play. The quota system has already lost you Pietersen and who knows if others will stick around if they are curtailed by the system.

I know Andre Nel personally and he has told me that he is looking for a contract in county cricket. He would be a Big loss as his passion ignites the team.

I am all for development on grass roots level, but you cant enforce quotas in the National team.

That's like saying all players playing for England must be born in England

Well in SA. Made a great start and with de Villiers and Boucher to come it looks like being a large first innings total. That pitch will break up quickly for the spinners.

Most of their stars will play in the Indian Premier League from April so not much rest

South Africa did well today. McKenzie and Smith are very impressive

Any idea why the tour was postponed?
