You guys seen Angle - Anderson from Lockdown yet?
I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.

Having watched it properly now, lockdown review w/ spoilers in case anyone is watching it tomorrow;
Set - reminiscent of wcw (in a good way). Much better production / camera work than at previous lockdowns.
St Louis Crowd was quite big for tna (around 5k) and very hot. Man do tna need to get out of the IZ
RVD/James Storm - odd result, usually expect the heels to get an advantage, and unnecessary blading from RvD so early on, but a decent enough match.
X-div Escape - Homicide, Kendrick & MCMG - ok, nothing special.
Young/Nash - Basically a squash. with XPac's no show and Nash having to do double duty he had to win, so this was a bit irrelevant. I would have pulled it if I was booking.
Knockouts - meh. It could have been worse, reasonably well booked barring the interference ending. Tara heel turn is good and Madison Rayne is a good worker... doubt she'll have the belt long though.
X-div champ - Kaz/Moore/Homicide. No Doug
Stripping his championship is controversial, but I reckon it sets up a good angle for him - "the stunt men couldn't beat me, it took a volcano!". This was quite good though, especially considering the last-minute booking changes. I'd love someone to tell me how Moore can be "Punk" and "glam rock". Idiot gimmick. Kaz as champ is a thumbs up though.
3D/Wolf Pac - Bubba worked the crowd hard, they were well into this and in the end it was much better than expected. Just a slug fest but with the hot crowd it worked, almost had an ecw feel.
Angle/Anderson. What can I say. Exhibition of storytelling, best match of Anderson's career. Kurt is close to being the best ever imo, and with Aj, Wolfe, Anderson, he's just had a succession of great matches in the last few months. I think the winner was right too, though some might disagree. And that moonsault was just insane, a genuine "holy ****" moment even when you think you've seen it all.
AJ/Pope - good match, if a touch short (could have cut one of the early matches for this to have more time). Such a hard act to follow too. Ending, well, I thought it was lame. Not the heel "cheating", that's wrestling 101, but the manner and method sucked a bit.
Team Flair/Team Hogan - meh, war-games style cluster **** was what it was, god I hate Abyss now. Hardy did his scary spot then the match kinda died, and Hogan / Bischoff / Flair did their limelight thing. Yuk.
Despite that, overall a good ppv, not so great undercard but enough good to counter the bad, then a little bit of great. 8/10Last edited by MrMichael; 21-04-10, 11:04 AM.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Raw sucked.
Impact ruled although there were some moments.
JR has met with Dixie Carter, he's interested in a big role at TNA

Prior to the draft WWE release 6 some shockers
Mickie James
James was released because she more than once on the European tour arrived late for the bus, holding up travel. That was considered the straw that broke the camel's back dating back to her being disciplined by being sent to Smackdown.
Katie Lea Burchill
Jimmy Wang Yang
Shelton Benjamin- Already talking of Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin as a tag team in TNA
Slam Master J
Kung Fu Naki (who has been there for more than a decade)
Releasing Mickie one of their better womens performers weakens the division heavily. She was a great character too. Benjamin is a loss, great performer but they never did anything of note with him and I always had a think for Katie Lea but after Paul got the flick, I think she was on borrowed timeComment

Benjamin's a good athlete, he could do well in TNA. Mickie was in TNA before, wouldn;t mind seeing her back although I'd rather they brought back Melissa or signed Sara Del Rey. Or used Hamada properly.
The others are neither here not there really.
Last episode of Impact was a great show, best they've done in a long time. RVD - Hardy and RVD - AJ on the same show would have carried it even if the rest hadn't been pretty good too. "Giving away" ppv standard matches on tv is a sometimes controversial tactic, but I think it made sense in the storyline and they need to do something to get the ratings up, good wrestling is better than any other tactic imo.
Edit - still marking over this...

Benjamin was so badly misused in the WWE. If he heads to TNA that more power to him. Same for Mickie James. Katie Lea/Nikita should come back home and do the European thing again with Birchill. Either that or join up with Desmond Wolfe and Douglas Williams for a proper talented Brit stable in TNA.
I agree with what you say about giving away PPV style matches on free TV, (the title should have switched on the PPV not free TV)Comment

Angle's done a moonsault on top of a cage before, against Benoit I think. Some Lockdown was just so ****ing stupid, the lack of consistency and stupid rules like having a key, falls count anywhere, DQ's and Hogan, Bischoff and Flair finishing a show. Hopefully Impact builds on Monday's show. I hope TNA don't reunite Team Angle - we don't need more knockoff tag teams and stables from the past ten/twenty years.IComment
