My suspicions about Paula Radcliffe.

Can't comment on Paula Radcliffe as I don't really follow the Olympics,

however I thought at the time it was a bit crap that Kelly Holmes got out of it all as soon as she got her medals and her damehood (is that a word?)

almost like "well, I'm setup now... so **** it all"

She raced at a top level for over 10 years and was 35 and had won pretty much everything when she retired, I don't think thats too bad a career to then decide to retire!

And Sisterstiffticket as for Paula Radcliffe being on drugs thats bollocks, using Ben Johnson as any type of back up for your theory is flawed, he was caught 20 years ago and the testing is more stringent and a lot better these days, Paula Radcliffe would be one of the most tested atheletes in the world and if you think she takes drugs to win all these races then decides to lay off the drugs to compete in the olympics planning to lose the competition which is the pinnicle of any atheletes career and then gets back on the drugs to compete again after, you are surely a bit mental

Nothing in her career adds up for me. Everytime I have predicted difficulties for her they have come true, even after the last Olympics when I predicted, with less stringent tests, her results would suddenly pick up again, they did.

When Kelly Holmes won double gold at the last Olympics the first thing I thought was 'drugs' especially when I saw her eyes and arms bulging manically as she crossed the finish line.

To make the step up from being a perennial third/fourth place finisher to double Olympic champion at her age is suspicious to say the least.

I want to back up Sisterstiffticket here to an extent. It's funny how in the British press, if athletes like Kelly Holmes or Paula Radcliffe come from nowhere and become world beaters they're acclaimed as heroes, yet when it is an athlete from any other country does the same, arrives on the world scene out of nowhere, there is a presumption that they are drug cheats. Why is there a presumption that British athletes are whiter than white, that only they can achieve greatness without cheating, while other counties' world class athletes must be drugs cheats?
