"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I was able to go in '95 at Oak Hill. It is a nightmare to get around compared to other major events. We had the best luck with picking a hole (12th, 13th or 14th - you don't want a hole later than that because the matches could be over) and then watching all 4 groups come through. Then try to catch a few more groups on your way back to the clubhouse and hospitality tents (not all are VIP) to watch the rest on TV. It is still a great experience and it is worth the hassle.

There is nothing like a Ryder Cup roar after a big putt - so sudden and frighteningly loud - send chills through your whole body. Playing in that kind of atmosphere must be amazing.

And I agree about the "Get in the hole!" morons. Thankfully, the "You Da Mans" aren't as frequent any more but either of them deserve a smack to the back of the head.

Taking off work tomorrow to watch - can't wait. I know the Europeans are clear favorites but I still think the US will play with a little extra something - since all they have been asked is how can they win without Tiger Woods.

As for the event declining if the US isn't competitive? I think we are a ways off on that. So much corporate $ involved. And honestly, will you ever get tired of watching the US get beat?

I have always wanted to experience this. I imagine only one thing comes close (certainly in British sport) – and that is the almighty roar that goes up at the start of the Grand National. Spine-tingling.

Same would love this feelin but i crack under pressure in golf.

Walking out onto to pitch at Anfield is probably the closest thing ive come to this although the crowd was probably around 300-500 that night not quite the same!

mate i am with u on this, but i know bobby fallon doesn't like him - i ****ing love faldo, he was great - when i first started he was the best in the world, he is easily the best european to have ever played the game and when it comes to the ryder cup - forget about it, he is the ryder cup! - I'd love him to win it as captain

he gets **** from the press, cause he pretty much told them all they're cunts and to leave him alone

i'm with faldo all the way - one year i went the open, birkdale or lytham - and managed to follow faldo for the whole round - it was ****ing brilliant!

suffice to say faldo is my all time favourite golfer!

I'm a bit older than you Mike but I know exactly what you mean. He's irritated me at times but he was a great player and I cheered him on to many Major wins - especially at Augusta. As a kid though my favourite player was, by a ****ing distance, the genius that was Severiano.
