Do you remember his back to back test hundreds in the Windies? Class
    you're struggling

Gilly was better, there is no contest. He made more runs, and he was far more exciting to watch.

Gilly's average when he batted up the order was poor. Fact

Alec Stewart in his pomp was an incredibly destructive batsman. Much more exciting than Gilly

Debatable but Akram was a Left arm bowler that's why he gets my selection

Trust me, with Bradman, Gavaskar, Barry and Viv Richards and Sobers at 5, you dont need a wicketkeeper/batsmen.

The Best wicketkeeper was Godfrey Evans - Fact

Now i know you are joking.

17 (100's) and 26 (50's) in 96 tests for Gilly...batting down the order too, which makes the achievement all the better IMO, as he wouldn't have got as many innings as an opener would, or as much time at the crease

15 and 45 in 133 tests for Stewart opening the batting, also didn't England use the wonderfully named Jack Russell as a wicky for quite a while, as Stewart wasn't the best with the gloves and was seen as a specialist batsman (who wasnt that great anyway).

Which proves that Stewart was neither a better batsman or wicket-keeper.

                      Great minds and all that....

On topic, I think Gilchrist is better than Stewart. Agree with Harv also about Waqar before his back injury. Wasim and Waqar were an amazing partnership though.

The best wicket keeper was Knott.

No need for a "wicket keeper batsman" when you have 5 of the greatest batsmen in the world at the top of the order.
