Top 4 all looking good so far, Djokovic maybe the one still to hit top gear so far but thats no bad thing, best to hit top form for the latter stages. Will be a cracking second week.

Did you see the fighting between the Serb and Bosnian fans! Chair throwing and all. Surely wussy sports don't get that?

The competition is shaping up very nicely indeed, I am really excited about the second week and think we could have a few classics coming up. Just a shame the Safin v Federer match was a bit disappointing. All I know is watching the players made my own game improve slightly today, the off season is a dull period of time for me!

Bloody useless Scot...can beat the big shots like Fed and Nadal, loses to the piddlers.

Verdasco is a very good player, 15th in the world, and has a great last 6 months, but Murray should really be beating him. It was a very uneven match from both players.

Djokovic is out! The defending champ gone - apparently he coudn't take the heat. It's expected to hit 40 degrees later this week. He retired when 2 sets to 1 down to Roddick.

I am pleased for Roddick though. He has lost his way over the last few years, but he is a good player and seems like a thoroughly nice bloke. Hopefully he is on his way back up.

We can hope...but really, last year wasn't exactly a bad one for him, truth be told...4 grandslam semi's reached, 3 finals reached and one victory...if Nadal hadn't had such an amazing year, we'd all still be amazed at Fed's year.

Still don't think he's fully over his illness tho, glandular fever can linger for years after. But i also think that Fed, with his graceful, effortless game, can keep playing for a good few years yet at the top level...possiblyl even longer than Nadal, even with Nadal being the younger player, cos Nadal pounds the court and his knees will suffer for it.
