Hmm, but how old are you mate? About 20 if I remember rightly?? Try it when your 30, guarantee it wont happen in 2-3 weeks!!!

    : old : [/QUOTE]

    16 actually

Regardless of age is does work, people in the gym i go to have the same routine for the abs as i mentioned, some of these guys are 30-40 and their abs are still toned. ok they might have to do more for a visible six pack, but even if they did the three sets of 30 their abs will be strong and you will feel good.

It will take longer for someone older than me obviously, but that still doesnt mean the exercise is useless, it has great benefits.

then try and make your nose touch your legs while they are vertical if that makes sense. I do these and i got a six-pack in 2-3weeks by doing three sets of 30 each night.

      hope you find it useful.
Might give that a try thanks Mike. Used to be alright at sit ups but my lower back canes after a bit doing the conventional way. Think this might be better.

These are harder, but only because the muscles are used more.

Give them a go, should be better on your back.

As Fierce says it will lose you weight, but due to health problems from taking the diet it can not last forever. And once you revert back to normal eating the weight piles back on, just like most fad diets.

As for experts, the only ones worth listening to say the same, that all fad diets are rubbish and should not be followed. What should be made are lifestyle changes that are simple to follow and can be carried on long term. Things like instead of having a doner kebab with loads of mayo on a saturday night, get a chicken shish kebab without the mayo. Or when going out on the lash head out an hour later or come home an hour earlier. If your already fairly healthy these changes are easy to make.

If you want a good kick start then do more exercise and drink more water. One tip recommended by most is to eat often but lighter during the day. Instead of having a big lunch, cut it down and eat some of it a couple of hours before dinner, or have it pre lunch at like mid morning (depending what hours you are awake). Spliting the meals up means you are still eating the same amount, but are increasing metabolism. This also covers snacking, as there's no need.

Fact ! the Aktins diet or lifestyle is the healthiest eating plan on the planet as shown in countless hardcore medical studies, such as Standford Medical School, Royal College of Surgeons the list is endless but those two should give the results some gravitas

Fact! I weighted 90 Kg 2 weeks ago I now weight 85 Kg!

Fact Bad Carbs are terrible for you .. carbohydrates, particularly sugar, flour, and high-fructose corn syrups are incredably destructive for the body and the Atkins diet is built around lowering these toxins .. not just eat as much meat as you can.

Fact bollix stories like Atkins died of Obesity are put out by powerful Industry ... **** the word leaves me right now ..lets call the PR till it comes back to me .. to sully what is a open and shut case of a brillant diet or better described as a lifestyle choice ..

I use atkins induction from time to time to get in good shape if I have piled on a few extra pounds .. I try to keep carbs to a minimum but hey I am Irish .. I love everything with potatoes and a slice of bread

Usually I have a normal diet but I would I say its probally healthier than most because I have been living with my Misus who cooks and eats very well for 12 years. We eat lots of Fish, sushi, greens and fruit ... but we also eat out a lot, order pizzas occasionaly and always have a fry up at the weekend .. Its all about balance ... if 70 % of your diet is good stuff and you work out at least 2 or 3 times a week you can get away with all kinds of stuff.

Any young Kopites in there 20's reading this take note .. I'm 35 all my mates look about 10 years older than me, they are all going gray and losing hair and generally not aging well, now I have partied like a ****ing Rockstar for many a year no so much these days .. but one thing I consistently have done have eaten very well, excercised regularly and whilst I love a Jar I probally only out for a drink 3 times a month compared to every other night after work. It catches up on you quickly in your 30's and you star looking like you Dad

Sorry mate but it's a fad diet, like a couple of others have already said - if you do Atkins for say a month, you'll just end up putting weight back on as soon as you eat carbs again. It might show results as a crash diet but by cutting out the carbs you end up going overboard on other elements of your diet.

I agree there's a balance to be had though, a takeaway once a week or whatever does no harm. In fact I read it's actually beneficial 'cos it gives your system a shock.

My dad, who's a bit of a bloater tried Atkins once. He was doing okay but got bored/lost his willpower and ended up taking all the bits he liked from the diet (bacon and egg for breakfast etc) and eating whatever the hell he wanted the rest of the time

Might give those a whirl mate. At the moment I've been doing sit-ups with a weight plate but I like to mix things up a bit to keep them interesting.

Another good one for abs is to take two heavy dumbbells, stand shoulder-width apart with the weights at your feet and bend your knees. Reach down and grab the weights with an overhand grip and tense your abs. Using your abs and NOT your legs/arms lift as high to your waist as you can.

If it comes down to looking good on the outside but being completely lethargic, or eating a balanced diet, I know what I'd go for

Again you are missing the point the initially atkins is about putting you in Ketosis to lose weight, also to balance your blood sugar levels to control your appetite .. then its about moderating crap that is not good for you end of story ..

Question have you ever been on the Atkins?

Nope but I was a fatty ten years ago in my teens and shed 4 stone over the course of around 9 months eating less and better, I didn't even exercise.

Atkins is not a balanced diet, it's a lifestyle of compensation. You might lose weight quickly but without the fuel provided by carbs the body will burn away muscle for energy so you'll have no metabolism.

No wonder it's billed as a way of life! You have to stay on it indefinitely to keep the weight off. It just doesn't sound like a very appealing way to me.

Well mate untill you understand it more I would probably not comment on it .. Like I said Stanford Medical School amougst others swear by it .. Its not a diet as such its a way of eating ... Stay was from sugar, white flour, processed food .. actually just basic good advice ...

The people who bang on about Atkins A. have never tried it B. Do not know what it entails
