80 off 9 overs what a load of ****e. The Duckworth Lewis method sucks donkey cock.
We get 162-6 from 20 yet they win with 80-5 from 9 overs. With such a slim total to aim for wickets become more or less irrelevant and the odds are heavily stacked in the batting teams favour. The England team must be feeling pretty pissed off right now, played much better than the Windies yet lost.

I agree but our bowling in those last four overs was pants, as indeed was our batting in the latter part of the innings. We were about 90-2 off about 10 overs and then didn't hit a boundary until the penultimate ball of the innings.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
I thought D/L took wickets into account (to balance out the fact you've got less chance of losing all your wickets in 9 overs than 20) and that the old method of calculating a target favoured the batting side far, far more.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

It does - my feeling is though that the stats involved are dominated by pre-T20 matches and need reviewing in the light of it. Added to the fact that obviously the fewer overs you are reduced to the bigger the error that is likely to come into the calculations. Broadly speaking I think D-L is as good a system as been come up with but it probably needs tweaking as the game evolves/develops.

That is such an unfair way to go out of a WC, FFS. Why can't they just finish the game properly the next day?
Or even later that night, they had the floodlights on for ****sake. It hardly takes an age to bowl 20 overs does it?
I reckon it'll be due to health and safety concerns about the spectators getting home, last tube time, public transport etc.
Overall an unsatisfactory end to England's tournament as i thought on balance we deserved to be in the Semi's more than the Windies but i doubt we could have won it.

Yes, the England Women did well. Great performance from Taylor.
