So was Cavendish's disqualification justified? Renshaw has said they were just following the line of the barriers at the side and it was the Tour organisers' fault the barriers weren't in a straight line.

It's hard to see how Cav isn't f*cked for green now.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

No, I thought it was a more than harsh decision of the race jury. Cavendish's pushes were harmless and he didn't leave the line. I've seen much worse fights during sprints that never got punished.

Can he appeal or is that it now?

In that case I suggest the French jury have punished Cavendish for his arrogance (re. Equipe's very dubious accusation against him). At the risk of sounding like kev776, that's quite ironic.

At last the race takes shape.

Great attack from Contador, good response from Schleck. I can't see Armstrong doing anything but losing time on Ventoux - he's not going to win it.

And as for Twiggo, who da thunk it?!

Contador is just immense going up those climbs.

Schleck made a valiant effort, it would be very interesting if he can make some ground back.

Have to give credit to Armstrong, 37 years old, a bit over three years out of the sport and he's still there at the top.

                Wiggins is surprising everyone.
                On the Ning Nang Nong
                Where the Cows go Bong!
And the Monkeys all say Boo!
                There's a Nong Nang Ning
                Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots Jibber Jabber Joo.
                On the Nong Ning Nang
                All the mice go Clang!
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
                So it's Ning Nang Nong!
                Cows go Bong!
                Nong Nang Ning!
                Trees go Ping!
                Nong Ning Nang!
                The mice go clang!
What a noisy place to belong,
Is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!

Trouble finding 'English' streams for this today, anyone got any? I'm currently on a Spanish Eurosport stream.

Same thing. Can't seem to be able to play the supposedly 'free' stream on the France 3 website.

I'm going tomorrow anyway and with a bit of luck my plane will crash somewhere along the way.

I'll try and mute the Portuguese commentary and hook up with the 5 live commentary.
