Ricky's main problem in that fight was the wasted energy in missing shots. If he had had a warm up fight against a regional fighter - a range finder - he would have beaten this bloke 2 or 3 fights in.

Ring rust beat him tonight, and a really, really good shot. But the good shot was helped along by exhaustion.

      What did he say?

I really respect him if im honest, took a lot of bollocks to come back and do what he did. Its his lack of defence and sheer determination to stick with his style that cost him.
Basically cried and said stuff like "I'm not a failure, I'm not a failure"

Wonder what was behind the argument/fight between him and his Dad? Perhaps his father new that he couldn't handle the pressure of a comeback.

Guy's totally unfit. 15 weeks of intense training and getting ripped isn't enough. I've seen him around a couple of times over the last 3 years and he was just a short fat cunt. We all know what he's like, you can't yo-yo in weight like he does, and abuse his body with loads of ale, fry-ups and coke. He's 34, he was shot at 31 and that was a long painful death tonight. He'd lost at least rounds 4-8 and then in 9 that happened, it was so obviously coming. Still walking on to shots, missing wildly, no head movement, and blowing like Joe Cole after 3 rounds.

            Yep.

His whole style was one of a young man. He could take the punishment walking forward but now... No.

It was a painful ageing lesson. He did the right, sensible thing a couple of years ago in trying to stay involved in his business, but not in the ring. He might still have the one punch, but he doesn't have the durability. His style of fighting did for him.

Yep. Look at Froch - a year older than Hatton but he looks after himself and is better than he's ever been.

Thank **** he did not take on Khan or Brook. That would have been embarassing.

Still, Hatton is a warrior with a lion's heart.

They had a kick off in a car park a couple of months back over his decision to go back into the ring..

Dont think they've got on for a while..

His Dad will know all about his lifestyle etc and obviously thought he shouldn't have gone ahead with his comeback..

Shame for Hatton, he's obviously got problems.

A lot of the top boxers are close to breakdown and disaster. So many have gone down the same route.

I never seen the fight but after all the effort he put in to get ready for it I can't see him giving up. He'll take another fight very soon

According to Ricky the fall out with his parents was over a business deal that went wrong.

Yep.. He tells that story, so maybe the car park bust up is linked to that.

Sad ending but personally felt it was inevitable, this guy was just a decent opponent and IMO he cruised/made of a fight of it....he even looked genuinely gutted once he realised he had ended hatton...hatton was wild, missed with some ridiculous haymakers, one was so wild he swung himself round 360 degrees and ended up on his arse..

Shebchenko never really looked in trouble, took a few punches early on and then stepped up the pace, one big shot to body and it was game over
