My mate use to serve Amir kebabs as a kid, and has recently met both Roach and Amir at his restaurant, it was a big fest for him, he loves Freddie Roach. He asked him how far can Amir really go? I'd ask him does he like 'Take That' Mr.Tee

Freddie Roach admits he'd relish preparing Amir Khan for an English superfight with Ricky Hatton - but promoter Frank Warren has offered a stern warning about such a contest.

On Saturday night the Bolton star clinched his first world title at the age of just 22 when outclassing Andreas Kotelnik on his way to a unanimous points win for the WBA light-welterweight at the MEN Arena and now the speculation is already beginning to circulate over his next opponent.

By contrast Hatton suffered a devastating second-round knockout defeat against pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas back in May and has yet to make an official announcement in regard to his future.

There have been strong calls for the 'Hitman', who was admitted to hospital last week with a gastric virus, to retire but a blockbuster clash with his friend and compatriot Khan could be seen as a fitting way to bow out or even re-launch his career.

Although Khan's trainer Roach - who was celebrating his 25th world champion on Saturday night - has previously called for Hatton to call it a day in the wake of Pacquiao's demolition job, he couldn't deny it would be a mouth-watering prospect.

At the post-fight press conference Roach said: "After the Pacquiao fight I said Hatton should retire. He's a multi world champion and has nothing left to prove. To get knocked out like he did against Pacquiao was devastating.

"But If he does decide to fight again and continue his career then he's made for my guy and I'd take that fight in a heartbeat."

However Warren continued to voice his concerns over the dangers to Hatton's health should he decide to fight on.

He said: "Everyone will have a view on it but from my point of view Ricky shouldn't be fighting - it's not good for boxing and it's not good for him more importantly. He's just been in hospital for whatever that was.

"Financially it's a fight Amir would do really well out of but Ricky would get stopped again. I don't think he should fight. If he wants it I'm sure it could happen but for his health he should definitely retire."

When pressed on the issue he added: "You know what happens? The fight happens but later down the road God forbid anything happens to Ricky then people blame boxing, instead of greed.

"If he wants to put himself in there then that's his decision - he's not a baby, he's 30 odd years of age - but sometimes fighters go on too long and it's not good for them. Bad things can happen."

Khan himself played a straight bat but couldn't deny it would be a fantastic prospect for British boxing fans.

Khan said: "I'll leave the decision with the team. At the moment I'm going to enjoy what I've done tonight.

"I'm a fan of Ricky Hatton and I'd like him to support me on the way to achieving what he's achieved.

"Boxing is a game where you have to face fighters and that would be a huge fight that British people would want to see. We'll see what happens and like I say I'll leave it with Frank and Freddie and if they think it's the right move for me to make then I'll do it."

Khan also has his eyes set on fighting in America for the first time and talked up the possibility of taking on Juan Manuel Marquez.

He said: "We want to fight big names and fight in America. I think after this win it's now time to go to America and fight over there.

"When your world champion you don't have to chase anymore - fights will come to you. Chasing is the hardest bit, fighting for the world title and winning it but I've done it now and people will come knocking on my door now.

"There's some big fights in the future - I want to fight the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez because I think my style will work against his.

"We'll give it a few weeks and see where we go. I'm still only 22 but I've achieved what I wanted in becoming a world champion so I'm just going to chil out now and have a break."

Khan's victory in Manchester came just 10 months after suffering a shock knockout defeat inside one round by Breidis Prescott and a rematch with the Colombian is also on the cards.

Prescott (21-1, 18 KOs) suffered his first defeat on Friday night against Miguel Vazquez in Las Vegas and Khan insists there is nothing to be afraid of.

Khan added: "I'll never turn away from any fight but I'll have a couple of weeks off first and relax before making the next move. I'll sit then down with Frank and discuss my future."

Warren also reflected on the positive impact Khan's defeat to Prescott had on the 2004 Olympic silver medallist's career since then.

He said: "We had to make some serious decisions to make after that fight. The most sensible and best one of those was Amir teaming up with Freddie.

"Then it was deciding which fights to take and show what Amir was about. Obviously the Oisin Fagan fight was a bit of a warm-up to get himself back into it and then and the fight with Marco Antonio Barrera more than restored his confidence.

"Most people after a fight like that would have said 'let's now find an easier opponent' but the one against Andreas Kotelnik was the way to go and he rose to the challenge.

"He did that as an amateur when he lost to Kindalin in the Olympics. The first thing he said to me was 'before I turn pro I want a rematch with Kindalin'. I can remember telling him that's crazy - that's done and dusted.

"But that's what Amir Khan is all about - he's not afraid of a challenge and he'll go for it. He's a phenomenal athlete, he's young, he'll still learn and Freddie will get the best out of him."

This would be an embarrasment for Hatton

                          I don't understand this attitude.

Does he mouth off more than any other boxer?

Salita was a mandatory challenger and a tough fight on paper.

I honestly believe under freddy roach, Khan could become the best pound for pound fighter in the world, his handspeed is frightening!!!
