Will that be the template for the season though?

Now that all the cars start with a full tank the weights will all be similar. Sureley that will stop most of the overtaking as a lot of it was due to strategy.

I'll also miss the odd fireball in the pits now there's no refuelling.

I was really looking forward to this season but was bored ****less after about 8 laps.

It dragged on constantly and it was nothing compared to last year

I'm worried that the whole season is going to be like that now they've dropped refuelling. Problem is the aerodynamics causing turbulence meaning the cars can't get close without destroying their tyres. At least with refuelling you had different strategies, a series of sprints and drivers having to go full on - now they have to be "careful" and "watch their fuel" - how dull is that? its going to be a procession unless cars break down or there's rain. They should dowse the tracks midway through every race just for fun!

Me and my mate reckon they should make the tracks like Scalextric ones. Put a crossover section in the middle, so every time they do a lap there's the risk of smashing into each other at 200mph. That would keep them on their toes and keep the crowd guessing.

Bernie Ecclestone put a proposal forward for this season at the end of last season but it was turned down - short cuts.

There would be 3 short cuts in the track, but each driver could only go through the short cut 5 times, would definitely make it more interesting - they need something because sunday was very dull.

              How about a Hot Wheels-style loop-the-loop too?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

These petrol price hikes must be hitting the 'sport' hard.

Haha even I might watch then - Mario Kart style shortcuts, riskier routes but quicker if you nail it. Ace

Apparently Jackie Stewart (I think it was) described racing with a full tank of petrol like this seasons F1 as like "driving with a pregnant elephant in tow". If there aren't actual elephants involved what's the attraction? Even the drivers seem bored by it in the interviews.

Until I dozed off the fastest laps were about eight seconds - EIGHT SECONDS! - slower than the lap Vettel drove in qualifying to get him on pole. Think how far they travel in eight seconds.

                      So boring.

You half expect commentary like "oooh, look at that tire saving manoeuvre. In a couple of hours he will be able to get quite close to , but not close enough to over take, the car infront".

I like F1 but this season is going to be dull. Might be easier to sky+ the highlights and then speed watch them back.

Button has come out and said things need changing otherwise things will get very dull, glad someone has come out and said it.

Webber said the same thing straight after the first race, it's going to make for a very dull season
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

I see virtually everybody said the same, except Alonso
