Perhaps. But you're not bothered about keeping wickets for later if you know a hurricane will reach the ground before you get to the tenth over. Surely it changes things.

The thing is can you really calculate for that? What proof is required that the side batting second knew their innings would be truncated? It's rarely something you can be totally certain about so what level of certainty is required before the total is amended?

Also, if people are aware the second innings will be cut short, then should fielding restrictions still last the first six overs?

And the ball is much easier to hit when it's new and hard.

    And so on.

Basically they need a scoring system that stops people playing 20/20 cricket and gets them on to road bikes.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The fielding restrictions thing is a very good point and one I hadn't thought of.

I just think that if you had enough data you could reasonably assume that the intentions of team who had seen the weather coming would be factored in. No system is ever going to be perfect, but you want to minimise the more ridiculous incidents (was it South Africa in one dayers who were asked to get 22 off one ball at a wold cup under the old system?).

The Aussies are having a hard time of it at the moment against the Banga's. 80-6 after 15

I keep forgetting this is even on. How are England doing?

This is from the BBC live text on Aus v Bangladesh. Seems I'm not the only one with no interest.

1730: Don't tell me you're not excited - Bangladesh v Australia, in the tournament that's gripping the sporting world, for a place in the Super Eights?

Surprise surprise.... Pakistan collapse v England.

From 70-1 to 78-4 off 11 overs. A score of 140-150 is possible, should be a good game this!

                      123-7.

3 overs left. Should get to 150.

                        132-9.

Not really pushed on. Sounds like good bowling and fielding on the radio.

Looks like Pakistan will be at least 15-20 runs short. Only the rain may be able to save them now!

147-9 at the end. Careless last two overs from England.
Should be England's game but that last over gave Pakistan a decent chance.

The tail wagged a little for Pakistan. Get a couple of early wickets and England could struggle here.

Looking decent here. 28-0 four overs in.
