Are you trying to wind up here?

If not, its fairly even atm, Australia definetely have an upper hand but its far from over.

Not winding up, it just seems that whenever it comes to big games, the english cricket team seems to get embarrassed.

Even i know that 260 all out, is a bit ****. Of course there's the 2nd innings to come, and obviously 4 more 'tests' (is that right? ) but frankly, i dont see it lasting all five anyway.

I'm posting of my memories of being at ashes tests, in the ashes test thread, is that not the point of this thread?

I’m guessing you don't have an interest in cricket other then saying how boring it is and what is wrong with its supporters?

Thanks for letting me know what I should and shouldn’t be posting by the way..... very helpful

If you insist on posting garbage chants like that, without comment, then yes, I'll say what I think of them.

            Your guess is wrong.

Also I wasn't accusing cricket fans of being backward and boorish. I was accusing the Barmy Army, or at least the ones who indulge in backward and boorish chants like that.

Do you think homophobic and generally unpleasant chants at test matches are a good thing, with kids around, etc?
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The English Cricket team over the last 2 years have been pretty good. They won the 20/20 world cup this year. Beating Australia. 260 is not a brilliant score, but thats only because the wicket favours the bowlers. You might find one test that both teams score only 200 and the next they both score 500. Its all about how it performs. I think this test will be a draw. Dont ask why, but I can see the signs.

I still think we'll win this Test. Remember they have to bat last. New ball tomorrow, if we can keep their lead down to around 50-75 I think we'll be okay. Shift Hussey and they'll all tumble IMO. Hauritz was handy for them with the bat and they might miss his runs.

It's impossible to say what's **** until you see the other side bat.

It's a very tactical sport that can ebb and flow quite a bit. Best thing about it is it's on for 3-5 days (depending on quality and evenness off sides) and you can dip in and out of it as you wish without missing too much, so there's always something to watch

I really don't know at this stage. Its swung so many times so far only thing worth putting money on is it's going to be close with a gripping finish

                      Arent they 220 for 5?

Makes 260 all out look a bit rubbish. It's fair to say that the aussies are likely to go into the 2nd innings with a fair lead.

Even if England do lose this one it will hardly be the pasting it was four years ago. I can see them coming back from a defeat this time.

It concerns me there is no genuine pace in the team. Mid-80's isn't fast enough.

Yeah I was worried about the same thing. Anderson between 79-85, Broad similar and the same for Finn. Their speeds were right down as well though, and Warney reckons the speed gun is malfunctioning.

I do think we lack a Harmison though, raw pace and aggression.

And wasn't Jones over 90 mph too? Or Flintoff. One of them was anyway. There were two quicks and two medium fasts in 2005.

                            England have never replaced Jones.

Batting conditions have been a little better today (sunny day, pitch dried out), even the one eyed aussie commentators have been saying that, however even then it's closer than it seems.

If we can drop 2 wickets quickly their tail doesn't wag too hard anymore. I reckon we'll see about 300 which is definitely achievable and a close match, but if we start out well we may see it even closer.

It's like your first wicket is Torres, then Gerrard, then Cole etc etc, when you're left with Carra, Reina, Skrtl etc where will the goals come from? A cricket score isn't necessarily as it appears. The crap batters go last.

                                Agreed mate.

New ball tomorrow and if we can get Hussey out early we should be able to keep their score down and kick on from there.
