he's falling apart at the moment - not good to see really.

Tsonga is a classic last 16 player. Seldom bothers the business end of a tournament. Everything he hit against Fed flew into the corners, on the lines etc. He was never gonna repeat that, he's just not good enough.

Tsonga's a talented player but this game shows why he hasn't won a slam. He's just not consistent enough. He can be brilliant one point and then awful in the next. That's just who he is. Djokovic is too solid for him, makes very few errors.

Course he's talented, he's in the top 20 and routinely makes last 16s.

          And then nearly always loses.

The ability to play consistently well is what separates the top guys from the also-rans. They're all capable.

That's true but even when you compare him to other top 20 players, Tsonga's one of the most naturally gifted players in the game. Some of the things he does are exceptional. He's a showman, not a winner.

Is that why he beat Federer after being down by 2 sets?

Agree with that. He's probably a bit more capable than most.

Re Djok going to no.1, I read this elsewhere:

It is because of the points ranking. Nadal won last year and a Slam win is worth 2000 points. Djokovic lost in the semis which meant he got 720 points. If he gets to the final this year he'll get 1200 points which is obviously a lot more than he got last year, so even if Nadal wins all he has done is defended the 2000 points from last year, so his score will still be 12070, but as Djokovic's total including last year's Wimbledon is 12005, he'll gain an additional 380 points come Monday when last year's Wimbledon is deleted from the points system and this year's is incorporated. So if Rafa wins against Djokovic he'll stay on 12070 but Djokovic will go up to 12385 and become number one. I think... It is complicated
