GB worked very hard. It was attacking left right and centre for 3/4 of the race though, which makes it very hard to control the race, especially if your team is small (4 riders).

In the Tour de France or other races, teams are bigger.

However team GB should have realised they needed to adjust their tactics due to the smaller team and probably tired Tour de France riders.

One off races like this are never straight forward affairs. Box Hill was a right pain in the arse as well, as Cavendish can't really climb, so I suspect they were trying to conserve his energy a tad bit while they were climbing.

Yeah they raced, but the Sky team (with the GB riders) had to do a lot of graft to help Wiggins (and in the last stage Cavendish) to win.

Most teams would have struggled the way the race panned out today IMO.
