LOL so you can put illegal parts on your car for a few races get a shed load of points the when your found out just take it off the car and look forward to the next race top of the leader board. Hopefully the other teams kick off about it. It's **** like this that is fastly turning me off the sport.

Don't understand the fuss, this has been going on for years.

Its not breaking the rules per se,the rules have a number of grey areas and each team interprets the rules in different ways, other teams who didn't think of it ask for clarification and this is then given one way or the other.

Its happened before with the flexible front wing and the double diffuser and this year with Mercedes double DRS system. They were queried too and a clarification given that the particular interpretation of the rules was allowed.

If it was a clearly illegal system like traction control or moveable wings then points would be stripped away but this can be hard to prove.Schumacher won the title in a Benneton in 94 that many at Williams believed was still running electronic systems that had been banned for that season.

The hole will remain on the Red Bull but will be slotted like the Ferrari and the Sauber. The performance advantage is minimal or they'd all be running it.

much of the innovation in F1 is through interpretation of the rules. the rules are now quite tightly defined.

also many of these things are brought to the attention of the fia by the team implementing it. they ask have we pushed it to far. sometimes they have and they get told straight away so dont follow that path. sometimes they get told its ok and eventually everyone copies it. sometimes as happened here the FIA said we are minded to allow it but eventually enough teams complain and they look again and go nope we wont allow it from now on.

it is very different from a part that the fia have said is illegal being used to on a car.

Not sure if your agreeing with me or disagreeing but All of what you state is exactly what has happened here.

They had their own interpretation of the wording of the rule and made a elongated hole.Ferrari and Sauber had a different idea and made a slot and the others another idea that meant no holes or slots anywhere on their floors.

Teams queried it,the FIA looked again at it and have clarified the rule via a technical directive which is always what happens and has done for years.

Its not like the deliberately flouted the rules by running a clearly illegal part and have benefited unfairly due to it.That's why I can't understand the fuss and that's why no points will be docked, rightly in my view.

                  Predictions?

I said the other day I'm going for a Hamilton win despite McLaren's ability for ****ness - I'm going to be brave and stick with it even though Vettel has pole - he's going to end up getting the record for pole positions over the next few years. Long way to go yet, but ****, he's good over a lap.

Button is **** out of form, very strange. I think we're seeing his inability to drive through a problem, it all has to be just so for Jenson, otherwise he struggles.

Alonso is unlucky, because you're seeing a genius peaking and he's being sold short by Ferrari. The car isn't as bad as it was earlier this season, but if he was in a Mercedes (who are being sold short by their drivers) I reckon he would have had a few wins by now.

So, 7th winner of the season? Someone has to start dominating the season now.

superb driving so far from Hamilton, lets hope he can keep this going.

That was great, the three best drivers on the grid going at it!

                      Yeah, F1's dull

                      Great race!

if he stops a 2nd time thats where he "could" lose it.

I mean by either a piss poor stop OR Redbull & Ferarri not stopping.

McLaren I hope just react to whatever those two do

You're right. They totally have the jitters at McLaren in the pits, both Hamilton and the pit crew!

the amount of times Lewis has been on the radio this race as well!

Think he's hoping they stay out so he doesn't need to risk it
