I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

never been into NFL - tried to watch it last night -
have to say, i enjoyed all the americanised hype and build up to it -
but by time the game actually started i was starting to doze off - I watched most of the first qtr - that quarter they were raving about 'scoring an own goal' as the english commentator kindly explained it....was just about awake for the first touchdown, and then crashed out....
Was thinking i'd watch it today but literally every where i looked this morning someone mentioned the score/result
i reckon it 'could' be interesting sport to get into if it wasnt for all the breaks and different teams etc which i can't get my head around....
ie literally, the game kicked off last night, the recieving team caught the ball, ran 10 yards, got tackled......and then about half the team ran off the pitch and another load run on
- 10 seconds had been played and they were making subs
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I used to go and watch the Warrington Scorpions
when I was a kid. It was basically the Americans from Burton Wood playing other Americans in a national league. Died on it's arse after a couple if years.
I used to think I enjoyed it, but looking back I don't think I really did.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I'm not a masive NFL fan, but I do like it. And if anything the Giants are my team ( I used to have a Giants hat!). Eli manning is a pretty incredible sportsman though, seems to triumph in adversity and really deliver in the big occassions. Whereas Tom Brady, is a more polished performer, who probably expects to win.
I watched to half time last night and it looked like it would be a good game.
WTF was that final Touch Down all about though. Bizarre.Modifying post.

exactly that - i've seen highlights of it and thought, this looks like a 'fun' sport - it's quick, has great tackles and some unbelievable 'passing and catching'
but when i try and watch it, it's just to stop start and random - which isn't helped by the fact that it's on so late, seems to take ages getting going/exciting by which point i am falling asleepi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

**** me
.....two hours for 30 minutes "play". It was astonishing, stoppages every 8 seconds, people running on and off....
...I was bewildered and much of it made me laugh out loud. You see more of the blokes in the studio (or adverts, depending on what channel you watched it on) than any of the 'action' (and I use that word in the loosest possible sense). I think it's the ****test sport in the world.

haha two and half hours!
i can't get my head round it - for some reason i 'want' to like it, i want to find out what all the fuss is about, i want to understand whats so great.....I love all sports, and i will watch any sport when it's the peak of that sport - ie, i'm not a big tennis fan at all but i will watch the big games and enjoy the quality on display...
but i just can't get my head into the NFL - the breaks in play etc....the adverts, the concerts at half time
- it's just frustrating - i remember watching it a bit more a few years ago and it felt like, every time it was just about to get excitcing/build up to something - it stopped.....and everyone runs of the pitch for no apparent reason, then another load run on, and some kicks it 50 yards down field, the whistle goes and they all run off again, and 5 mins later, the ones that that ran off and got replaced by the kickers run back on....
And as i say, all this tied in with being on late on tv when i am ired doesn't help...
if it was 2 hours long and had more flow/action going i'd enjoy it more - which is like daniel7 has pointed out, means it's probably decent as a highlights sporti own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I find Gridiron (
) quite watchable.
The constant stopping and starting and stopping is a piss take though. We come not to play.

It's not really a good sport for watching alone IMO. It's great for having mates over for a few hours talking, having a beer etc. Or if alone then playing a bit of football manager, reading a bit in the paper during the breaks or something.
I can't sit and stare at the screen for the whole time, but it's fun when going on because each play is like a setting up a chessboard with moves - very strategic game and that's quite fascinating.

It's so lame, there seems to be no singing/participation from fans of either team, the ****ing pop concert at half time is absolutely hysterical, and the stoppages are pure comedy. 8 seconds of play and it's back to the studio

Giants were better team last night and won it fair and square.Originally posted by Darkon View PostAgreed, Giants deserved their win and it was an exciting game. Not the best in terms of quality of play but really really exciting untill the end.
Wtf. was Brandon Jacobs doing
I couldn't be more happier for Eli.
2 Super Bowl appearances and 2 victories. He was always going to be in the shadow of the bigger brother Payton but not any more as he has one more ring to show.
Jacobs is a beast. 6'5" 275 lb pure power but this wasn't his greatest game nor his best season.
For me Tuck was the MVP. 2 sacks and constant pressure on Brady made him less effective and in the end helped Giants win.
Not a great game, like the one last year, but very enjoyable and I'm glad that Giants, the underdogs came on top once again.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
