I think Khan would have some success in the first couple of rounds against Floyd. Khan has very good hand speed and his movement, when focused, would cause Floyd a few problems.

Then in typical Amir fashion he'd get too reckless, display his genuine lack of ring IQ and Floyd would just take him to town.

Witness the Garcia fight from last year. Khan boxed beautifully for two rounds. Then fell apart.

Khan usually boxes perfectly until he gets caught on the chin. Then he goes all Frank Bruno.

It would be an interesting fight though.

I used to find Floyd annoying but there is no denying the guy's talent. His stance just makes it so difficult for anyone to hit him well. The target area is small. In between rounds he just sits there, no instructions or anything. You have to admire the talent

Only downside is he walked out with Justin Bieber. WTF. How uncool is that

Khan shouldnt even bother with Mayweather. He has no chance of beating him

I regret staying up and watching this fight. As a Match up it was crap. Nothing to get excited over. FM made it so simple, so effective in making it a no contest. But thats what makes him brilliant.

Also His stance is lethal, should be banned. You wanna throw a punch at him and its an elbow to the face or eye scoket if your lucky

Its all about the money though. Mayweather is the dream money ticket for every fighter in that division.

If Mayweather fought Khan in London I'd be well up for a trip to see that

Agree with everyone else, Mayweather would probably KO Khan, although I do think Khan's speed would cause him an issue.

How come this started the main boxing thread in Est and what happened pre 2012?

I think threads were started on a fight basis like Haye v Klitschko.

Well this was the only other thread simply titled "Boxing".

Why it didnt take off whilst the other more apt thread, titled rather splendidly "Boxing" did, I just dont know.

But now, Red reet, you have a choice.

As Darth Marty said styles make fights and there is no question that Khan's handspeed and the way he likes to throw a lot of flurries would pose Mayweather some problems. He could find himself ahead after a couple of rounds due to his workrate. Mayweather hasn't faced anyone with the kind of speed Khan has since Zab Judah and if we remember, Judah gave Floyd some problems until he started to time his arse. The same thing would happen here. One of the great things about Floyd is his ability to adapt to any fighter/situation. Once he figures you out and gets his timing right (there is no one better at doing this) he will neutralise everything you've got. Down the stretch I could see Mayweather completely breaking Khan down.

I found Canelo's comments in his post fight conference interesting but not surprising when he said he became frustrated because he couldn't find Floyd and that he took him off his gameplan. This is one thing I don't think Khan and other fighters appreciate enough about Floyd before they enter the ring with him. They all watch video footage and think they have the blueprint, the skill to beat him (in Khans case he thinks it's speed) but it's not until the bell rings that they realise how difficult and frustrating it is to fight him. He will inevitably shut down your work rate to the point whereby you'll end up fighting at Floyd pace and that is what you don't want.

Khan's got skills but I question his ring IQ and to fight Floyd you need more than just speed because eventually he will time Khan imo and I can't see him not being able to catch Khan on the counter for most of the fight.
