You can easily make cases for him losing to Lamont, Theophane and Herrera (that was a definite robbery). I thought perhaps he fought up or down to the level of the opponent he's in with but I'm not sure now after Saturday, he just looked pretty average and his often good timing was hideous.

Anyway, **** Danny Garcia and Mayweather v Pacquiao for that matter, this is hands down the best fight in boxing in the coming weeks. Look at these two!!

Was chatting a little about this upcoming bout a few posts back, but yeah it could well turn out to be a great fight to watch.

I don't rate Provodnikov as being a top level operator, but styles make fights and he certainly has the skill and attributes to upset hitters, and Matthysse is heavy handed.

Have a suspicion that it may well turn out to be the sort of bout that puts many of the more high profile pairings this year to shame.

One thing that has to be said about Matthysse is that he does not duck the tough fights. Is a regular thing for him to go in against fighters in and around his level.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

What a fight between Matthysse and Provodnikov! They even played the a classic rocky tune at the end of round 10

Crawford was fantastic too. He was able to carry his power at light welterweight

I think this has been one of the greatest boxer trainer relationships ever, not just for what they've won, but for how they are together in training, the little looks Manny gives now and then are great.

I enjoyed that but the guy who uploaded must not have realised it's old footage as it's not from his current training camp.

Did not turn out to be quite as good as I had hoped, but man did they not have much in the tank by the final bell. They certainly gave their best and gave the other their best.

Is definitely a quality fight that most other pairings this year will struggle to match let alone beat.

Right result in the end for me. Matthysse did enough to win and had him
116-112 myself so was not too far off what the judges saw.

Provodnikov again showed how much of a tough nut he is in terms of soaking up punishment and I think Matthysse showed himself to be no lightweight in that department either.

Would love to see Matthysse get a crack at the winner of Mayweather jr/Pac or at least be put into an eliminator fight where the winner of it gets the winner of the big fight, but I see no way in hell that will happen. Not that I think Matthysse would beat Mayweather jr (who will beat Pac imo), but because there are easier big pay days out there for Mayweather jr if he wants one or two more fights (I think he will try for 50 fights undefeated) before calling it a day.

I'm not sure how long Provodnikov will last in the game because he takes too much punishment the way he fights.

Got to say I am enjoying "Mayweather vs Pacquaio At Last" which is currently on SkySports 1. I knew HBO would do a better production than Showtimes "Inside Mayweather v Pacquiao. The intro was epic and sent chills down my spine. Liev Schreiber is the best narrator in the game.
