Brook needs to step up to better class opponents until this has happened it's pretty hard to conclusively say so.

Khan for me should win although he's always got that glass jaw of his to cause him issues.

Massively impressed he got in the ring with Canelo but that also ended as most thought it would do.

With Khan I'd like to see him get back in with Garcia or taking on a Thurman

When it comes to the current crop of heavies I don't think the casual observer will see things any differently than the must ardent follower of the division does.

Average is average to most eyes, and when we finally do get a top quality heavy in the division again he is going to stand out a mile compared to what we have right now.

Not saying that Khan has beaten any top level fighter, because he has not, but he has been in with more second tier fighters than Brook has and Brook has yet to even test the waters against the better guys let alone get hit by one.

I'm no fan of Khan (although I may be a poet without knowing it ) but he has better names on his record (be they Ws or Ls) than Brook has.

Agree with all your post, but especially the bit I highlighted.

I agree with with you and was reacting to the hyperbole of the poster saying that Khan operates in a different "stratosphere"
He's a great boxer for 2.55 of each round but it's that 5 seconds that let him down time and time again.
I don't even think he's that chinny but when you put it on a plate for an opponent time and time again you're going to get knocked out.

I was going to be kind to him and say that he is average in the durabilty department when it comes to be hit in the kisser, but then I started to think about the guys who I would have regarded as being average on that front when it comes to ex belt holders and a lot of them got knocked down a bit during their careers but with them being knocked down/badly staggered was not usually game over as they had it in them to survive and fight back.

With Khan once he gets knocked you feel that even if he gets up he is fired and the end will be along shortly.

The best example I can think of of a high level boxer who was prone to getting staggered or knocked down but who had the mentality/grit/right stuff/call it what you want to often overcome it is Thomas Hearns.

I know that sets the bar pretty effing high, but I think he is a perfect example of a guy who was average in terms of durability of chin even though he went in with a different calibre of heavy hitter than Khan ever has.

Some guys just cannot take a shot to the jaw ( am not including shots higher up on the head) and it is just unfortunate that some guys with that trait decide to get into pro boxing.

Another reason why I think Khan is chinny is down to the fact that he has avoided genuine heavy hitters for the majority of his career but yet still manages to get stopped or rocked when less powerful hitters connect cleanly.

Hearns is probably my all time favourite boxer.
He'd wrap himself around an opponent and have to be prised off by the ref to give himself a chance to recover.
Khan just doesn't seem to have that it in him - foolishly tries to fight his way out of it and usually gets tagged with feet firmly planted and chin on a plate.

Yeah Hearns would get hurt and turn into a long gangly limpet.

Then once he had recovered he would go back to throwing the same sort of bombs that left him open in the first place.

Was a wonderful fighter to watch though and whilst not my favourite fighter of all time (although he did share three rounds with my favourite boxer ) he was always one that I loved to watch on tv or watch on tape back in the day.

Marvellous Marvin love watching his fights

With Khan as has been mentioned its when he get tagged he doesn't seem to have the ring smarts to hold on, grab or get on the defensive he tries to trade and that rarely works out well.

Khan is a decent fighter and quite exciting to watch but the PR thats been built up around him is ludicrous

8 minutes of mayhem is possibly the best fight ever.
Remember Hearns weighing in against Dennies Andries in a full track suit and with what looked like weights in his pockets?
Saw him beat Nate Miller at the MEN but it was an awful fight.

Any excuse to put up this fight. Quite like this video as it has a chunk of the pre fight footage.
